A Question

Were there any people here that voted Bush in the election out of an intense dislike of Kerry alone?

You all know of 'anybody but Bush', but I have a libertarian (tho I think he would register as a Republican) friend who voted Bush out of hating Kerry (he used to be anti-bush but says he realized the folly of ABB; and i do agree ABB's concept is a folly).

The only folly with the AAB is that it doesn't say expicitly to vote for Kerry. Right now we have a one party system, republicans. and then the democrats are like a third party, they're not going to win, but they'll steal votes from you unless you at least heed some of their issues.

I can't vote, but I went Libertarian anyway (in the school mock-election).

I noticed I support the underdog. Here in Boston, Kerry is very popular. So, I went with Bush, just to piss 'em off.

And boy, they got pissed. I never knew a pen, if used correctly, could hurt so much.

He must be one of those libertarians who supports bigger government spending, higher limits on civil rights, and increased regulations.

This would really change under Kerry how?

It wouldn't? Did I get it right? I know there would be as much, most likely more, spending and regulations, not sure about the civil rights under kerry.

When you only read the first line of my post, sometimes you miss the answers to your own questions.

Bush is the incumbent president. Kerry is a senator.

Every election is much more a referendum on the incumbent than the challenger.

But the ABB crowd only gets us around 40% I would guess. The rest has to come from actual support for Kerry. And in retrospect, he obviously wasn't the strongest candidate.
