The Wicker Man, or, [Flamebait removed]

I do so love the film The Wicker Man...it never gets stale, never bores me...
Does anyone else remember this one? Edward Woodward as Sgt. Neil Howie (the Christian), Christopher Lee as Lord Summerisle, and Britt Ekland (topless, wow!) as Willow MacGregor - the Landlord's Daughter.
Had a most memorable conclusion. I've been to parties where this flick rounded out the evening with lots of chuckling laughter.
Burn, baby, burn...hee hee. It's what I'd call a 'feel-good movie' for those of us sick to death of being told what is and isn't Sin even though we're not subscribers to Judeo-Christianity.
Feelings?

Well, is murder sin? If it is, then I'm with you.

Having seen people burn to death (while in some cases entertaining, in others not) the movie doesn't do it for me anymore.
It is quite entertaining, though.

Why does Edward Woodward have 4 'd's in his name?

Correct, and that one is almost as old as the Great Old Ones.

I have the wickerman, coming back to the tread here, and I must say that certain scenes are *ahem* rather enjoyable little ditties.
Mmmmm. You know. Yeah you know :D

If you are refering to Britt Eckland's arse here, I hate to disappoint you, but that was a body double. Whether this has any real significance in the overall scheme of things, or not, I don't know.

Only the rear was a body double. The frontal was her own. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Still, it was a nice enough arse too.

You think you've escaped the Xian garbage by watching the Wicker-Man? You're a total idiot. The Wickermen were a pagan tradition, where people from the village would weave a man made of wicker, fill him with undesirable things and set it ablaze as a way to contact the Gods and ask them to remove these things from all around them. The fact that the name was used to portray a murder is Xian propaganda.

Well, I'm pretty sure (could be wrong) that in some cases people were some of those "undesirable things." Not random people kidnapped though, I think they were prisoners or soldiers from other countries and such. Some people make slaves of their enemies, some burn them, I suppose.

Because Christianity is portrayed in such a good light in the film

Most likely, I know as a fact that they burned weapons, armour and talismans of rivals in the Wickermen, my ressources never mentioned humans, but I'm sure it happened, dead or alive. Babies who died at birth or in the womb were burned as a way of asking that they don't happen ever again.
Yes but Christianity can handle a little negativity, pagans already have it hard enough without another of their traditions being defamed.
