hmm I think its a few...don't know the exact number though. Hawaii didn't want us, Panama didn't want us...there are few hundred more out there...think every war we have had...every nation we tried to help we placed in our little puppet gov't and went to town. :D

We rented our part of Panama, they were fine with it. Our current lease is set to expire soon. The Columbians complained, though, and we basically told them to go do something to themselves. The Panamans themselves were not too concerned, and we were only picking up where the French left off. Not colonialism.

We entered and absorbed Hawai'i grudgingly and even went as far as to try and prove that the majority of Hawai'ians still wanted the monarchy, but we failed to reinstall the monarchy and eventually succumbed to the revolutionaries and allowed Hawai'i to join the union. Really, REALLY bad example of colonialism.

The one valid example there is, the Phillipenes, never really got settled by the US. There are some minor pacific islands that may qualify in all senses, but none which I can immediately think of (Gaum and Samoa dont really qualify.)

EDIT: We are also renting a part of Cuba, and we did try to engineer the cuban government, and coerced them to do various things. But it wasnt a colonial relationship like the the Phillipenes and we also didnt settle them.

I mean the only reason Russia signed with Germany was because France and England forgot about them and didn't think it was worth having Russia in on the treaty. Then Hitler said well yea we hate communism, but we make a non-agression treaty and tell them we will split up Poland and the Baltic States with them all should be good. Until that point in time when we decide it the right time to attack them. THey attacked right before winter. Not a good time to attack Russia. Well actually the only reason Hitler didnt put his tanks on the beach was because the allies had staged a fake invasion force,so hitler sent the tanks to reenforce the area where the paratroopers were to land.

When I was there there wasn't any protesting but I talked to a lot of native Hawaians and they were ready for us to get out of there. They were mad about their blood lines becoming so deluded with others. Also was the problem of the state government over there giving native Hawaians free land- (cause they are all on a waiting list or something) and you have to be more then fifty percent. My right to bear arms has been infringed upon. My right to assemble was infringed upon. I was searched without probable cause/without arrest, by force, badge numbers were not given.

It doesn't matter, my rights are legally null. Our founding fathers used cases of salutory neglect as reasons for revolution. Just because the government has not decided to enforce what it has passed, does not mean it never will. How dare they dictate to us what rights we shall have? What was I alluding to? That armies in world war two were not divided and sent out by states, they were sent out by the federal government, who placed troops where they needed to be placed, and didn't keep states together.

In a way your both right, We didn't have State militias and State Armies, but we did have National Guard Divisions. And many of them did serve in WWI and WWII with Distinction. 28th Infantry Division comes to mind, with their Keystone Patch(Pennsylvannia for those not in the know) As a matter of Fact since Ohio doesn't have its own Guard division our battalions are part of those divisions. 34th Infantry(Indiana) and 28th Infantry.

The only way I could see it happening, is if EVERY other nation united under one cause only: The sole invasion and capture of the United States. If the US was swarmed at close range, nuclear weapons would be obsolete as they would destroy themselves in the process. The initial invasion forces would most definately take serious casualities, but eventually, the numbers game will add up and America could fall. However, this is extremely unlikely, and probably impossible anyway, but as this is just my opinion, I feel no shame in expressing it no matter how obsurd it may seem.

No one is taking into consideration the supply lines for such a massive invasion, plus how well blended will the forces be? Sheer numbers would work if geography wasn't already working against you.

Call it arrogant, but so far we *have*. The UN decends from the League of Nations, a US idea. Heck, most of Wilson's 14 points have been adopted since 1918.

Europe couldn't even keep *Jugoslavia* from decending into madness. Canada hasn't been a major factor since WW2/Korea (damn, we miss you guys!), and I won't even get into Russia. Like it or not, the US does a LOT more for the world than the US does for it.

1) America may not be the greatest country in the world but many, and i do mean many men and women have and always will put thier lives on the line for you to have the ability to say that out loud with no fear of bieng hauled off by the Gestapo.

2) Yes, many people hate George W. Bush, and many hate him for good reasons. I, myself believe that Geore W. Bush has done the best that he could, given the options and abilites that he poesses. Yes he may not be the great speaker like Reagn or Clinton was, but that is not his strength. He has the ability to do things without sidestepping the issue at hand, at least not all the time. I'm part military, and George W. Bush is the best thing that has happened to my family since before Clinton came to power. We as a family are now coming out from under the poverty line, that Clinton put us in with Defence budget and salary cuts.

3) Not everyone is perfect, just like no nation is perfect. Each person and Country has it's flaws, but the truly great people are those who look past the short-comings of people and nations and try to work together anyways. This is what i think makes america great. Even though to the world we look like a bunch a greedy, fat, sue-happy asses, but when things hurt us, we know how to stick together. Actually im listening to the Radio here in my room and i just listened to a story about a poor man, who is about to tell his two young children that there is no Santa, so he could explain why there weren't that many presents under the Christmas tree. In 3 minutes five people donated a racecar bed for the man's son and over 500 hundred dollars in Walmart certificates and 300 to Walgreens for groceries. Where else does this happen?
