A lot of the cases involve teen boys. Not classic pre-pubescent pedophilia. The priesthood conveys a socially accepted status without having to date or marry women. Many gays from strict Catholic families are therefore attractedt to it. Since they can only deny their sexuality for so long, they hit on whoever is convenient and can be intimidated into not revealing their secret. Next question please.

Why do preachers usually go for male kids?
Perhaps they see themselves at that age and that makes it less bad for them cause they consider it to be a form of masturbation.

Maybe its a denominational thing, RC priests have a reputation for sodomising altar boys but, in Scotland ,Church of Scotland ministers have a reputation for fucking (female) prostitutes.

Of course, the priesthood is particularly tempting as the RCs have been sweeping the problem under the carpet for so long; knowing that they'll have the protection of the church makes this the best possible career choice for a child molestor. If Rome had any sort of brains or decency, they'd either immediately excommunicate any priest foud to be a child molestor, or better yet, post them to somewhere that they're bound to get killed - say, somwhere on the border with the Islamic world, like the Sudan.

This is it in a nutshell. Child molesters take careers and participate in activities that put them in trusted positions with children...teachers, little league coaches, scout leaders, ministers and priests, and even doctors and nurses. Who would normally think twice about their children being alone with these people? This is a problem that has been covered up by the Catholic church and other denominations. I found my way to NS through a link from another site where I was following the proceedings of a Methodist minister that I had known as a teenager. It has come out that the Methodist church became aware of his activities and transferred him to my hometown without letting anyone know of his problem. That was over 30 years ago and it is just now coming to light. Ever see a questionable teacher leave in the middle of a school year with little or no explanation? The question is, what is so important that children are sacrificed to cover up for these people?

god encourages sex as a priest,infact he encourages it.ask a rabbi sometime.

but to answer the question.because these people are homosexuals to begin with,who else is going to want to give up sex but someone tortured for there sexuality?then of course it bursts,blah blah blah.

Well, for one there is no specific condemnation of sex with minors, as "minor" is a fairly loose term. 14 years old might be illegal today, but it was the average age of conception in the 600's B.C. when the Torah was written down. Sex with a priest is also only considered a bad thing in a few particular denominations (Roman Catholicism, for example), and even then they only adopted those tenets stringently in the years directly following their embrace of Aquinas' anti-sex philosophy in the 1200's. Judaism and Protestantism usually have nothing against priests having sex, although for Judaism it is considered cause for ritual purification.

As for the main question, about why priests have sex with male kids? Sheer availability. They are allowed around male children alone far more often than they are female children. Allow me to put it to you this way: suppose I have a hankering for meat for dinner, and I'm surrounded by a lot of pigs and very few cows. Guess what? Odds are pretty strong I'm having the pork platter tonight. In the same way, if priests have a desire for young children, and they have a lot more males around than females. . .well, you get the picture.

Firstly, like in the second post, many homosexuals and pedophiles are drawn to the Church so that they have an excuse not to indulge in this thing they've been taught (and in the case of pedophilia, not homosexuality) is wrong.

But the same chastity which they hoped would help them is double-edged. Sexual desire gets pent up, then the dam breaks. Many priests who entered for being a preist, would also suffer the same and release it on whatever is most conveniant.
