Imagine...

Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

I like the whole 'no heaven' bit, even though the idea scares the shit out of me

Being an atheist, I'm cool with it. The part about no possesions worries me a bit though.

Not if heaven is peace, heavenly peace.

Yeah, but I don't like the whole being forced to believe in order to enter stuff. Bugs the hell out of me

The heaven thing means, there are people who think well who cares what I do now, god will forgive me and let me into heaven, if there was no idea of heaven than people would live life for what it is today, and do everything they could to make this world a better place.

Is Mark David Chapmann still in prison?
Is that the 'Fan' that killed Lennon?

But why percieve it that way? Don't listen to those that force, only those that love. I bug the hell out of myself fairly well as it is. I will until there is no more to bug out :p

I was just talking to my husband about this song the other day...and about John Lennon's whole, "Give peace a chance" idea. If he hadn't been shot, he probably would've lived on to be revilled for his pacifist beliefs. I am afraid that if a major artist went out and said the same thing, he or she would be crucified (figuratively). What's more, we probably wouldn't even get to hear their message, because no top 40 radio station wants to play anything politically sensitive. We've done a great job of censoring ourselves. :(

Yes. I believe he just came up for parole (again) recently and got shot down (again).

John Lennon was the last chance/hope for peace.

In a weird way I think he helped Jon's career. If Lennon was alive today I doubt he would be as popular.

If he had killed almost anyone else he would be a free man today.

John Lennon was the last chance/hope for peace.
Nonsense. The last hope for peaces dies the day the last human dies. Lennon was a wise and intelligent man, but hope only dies when you let it.

And while I'm ordinarily a big Beatles fan, I have to disagree with the message of this song. You take away the things worth dying for and you lose the things worth living for.
