More Republican "Family Values"...

In this case, the family values....MONEY! (http://www.recordnet.com/articlelink/120504/news/articles/120504-gn-2.php)

Federal records show that Rep. Richard Pombo used campaign funds to pay his wife and brother a total of $255,916 over the past two years -- or 25 cents for every dollar the Tracy Republican raised for his re-election effort.
Reports filed with the Federal Election Commission also show Pombo's campaign paid the congressman's wife, Annette, an additional $39,938 from 2001 to 2002. His brother Randall received $169,299 during the same period, bringing the total payments to the family since 2001 to $465,153.

While it is not unheard of for members of Congress to hire relatives, experts say the amount of money involved in Pombo's case is eye-opening. For example, retiring Rep. Scott McInnis of Colorado made national news this year for paying his wife $39,000 to work as a campaign staffer.

"Spending 25 percent of what you raise on two staffers, especially when they happen to be relatives, raises some serious questions," said Larry Noble of the Washington, D.C.-base Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks federal campaign financing.

I suppose that nepotism and plundering your funds are fairly tame, compared to dressing up in a red latex suit and having sex with your girlfriend that your wife doesn't know about until you end up killing her and dumping her body in a park, and then deny that you had her as a girlfriend (while denying the killing), and then admitting, well yes, she was my girlfriend, but I didn't kill her, and then finding out (to your surprise) that your constituents don't believe you anymore, even though they are Democrats.

These crimes have little to do with the party affiliation, numbnuts.

Ask Barney Frank how many of his interns he pays to suck him off every day.

So, going by the title of your thread, you believe only Republicans commit campaign crimes? And you also think you are being stalked? Do you wear hats made of aluminum foil?

don't know if anybody has already brought up this charming example, but here's my favorite current example of the "moral" majority in America:

Dec 7:
Bush introduced Mike and Sharla Hintz, a couple from Clive, whom he said benefited from his tax plan. Last year, because of the enhanced the child tax credit, they received an extra $1,600 in their tax refund, Bush said. With other tax cuts in the bill, they saved $2,800 on their income taxes.

They used the money to buy a wood-burning stove to more efficiently heat their home, made some home improvements and went on a vacation to Minnesota, the president said.

"Next year, maybe they'll want to come to Texas," Bush quipped.

Mike Hintz, a First Assembly of God youth pastor, said the tax cuts also gave him additional money to use for health care.

He said he supports Bush's values.

"The American people are starting to see what kind of leader President Bush is. People know where he stands," he said.

"Where we are in this world, with not just the war on terror, but with the war with our culture that's going on, I think we need a man that is going to be in the White House like President Bush, that's going to stand by what he believes.

and on Dec 8...
A Des Moines youth pastor is charged with the sexual exploitation of a child.
KCCI learned that the married father of four recently turned himself in to Johnston police.

Rev. Mike Hintz was fired from the First Assembly of God Church, located at 2725 Merle Hay Road, on Oct. 30. Hintz was the youth pastor there for three years.

Police said he started an affair with a 17-year-old in the church youth group this spring.

This is one area where I can't snipe at the Republicans. Well...alone anyway. I have to snipe at the Democrats too, as I'm sure there are some out there who've done similar.

It's government family values.

The "stalking" refers to the fact that My Gun has jumped onto every single one of my threads recently. Today, he has resorted to calling me "numbnuts"

I just call it like I see it, and clearly he has decided to take a very active (and personal) interest in my posts.

True, however the Democrats don't generally market themselves as the moraly superior party in the way that the Republicans do.

Oh, I see. I've noticed that you like having someone answer your posts, but perhaps I'm not getting the tone right.

Here we go.

Bush is a fucking monster who is responsible for everything that has ever gone wrong in the whole world across the entire span of human history and is in all likelihood the reason that any bad thing, no matter how minor, has ever happened in my life. And that's why I answered this thread, because Zeppistan has shown me the true light of reason, and that the Democratic Party has never, will never, and can never cause any harm to anyone and indeed is the true salvation of the entire world and is the only force that can save the world from rotten nasty ugly filthy Americans.

More to your taste?

ok let me sum up the point for captain blockhead there

the point is right now at this point in time the republicans are claiming the moral highground and that they have superior morals to those posessed by the democrats, this is why they won (and i have a letter to the editor from a dipshit around here that says it and a quote from a guy on tv that was a republican too from the daily show...); however, they are no more moral than the next guy and are blatant hypocrites and riding a wave of nationalism and national stupidity

that help ya?

Ah yes - the infamous "jump to extremes". Perhaps blind partisanship is the only type of politics you understand, however some of us actually compose our own viewpoints rather than just repeat a party bible.

Which is why I also make posts like this one: http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=7614352&postcount=56

If it's blind party alleigance you have a problem with then I suggest you take that up with a proponent of it.

I'm guessing that you could find that in the nearest mirror....

Bush is a fucking monster

- well, I'd confirm that with his sexual partners first...

who is responsible for everything that has ever gone wrong in the whole world across the entire span of human history

- no, just the last four years, but I'd be willing to accept your statement as being simply a tad bit exuberant...

and is in all likelihood the reason that any bad thing, no matter how minor, has ever happened in my life.

- I'm sure his cronies are responsible for more bad things happening in your life than the Shrub himself, but I'm splitting hairs...

And that's why I answered this thread, because Zeppistan has shown me the true light of reason, and that the Democratic Party has never, will never, and can never cause any harm to anyone and indeed is the true salvation of the entire world and is the only force that can save the world from rotten nasty ugly filthy Americans.

No, no, no. You can't make the assumption that just because people do or think one thing, that by default they must be a <fill in the blank> and they must also believe <this> and <that>

People keep making that mistake with me.
