Most Irritating Kids Shows

Having two children spaced fairly widely apart has caused my mind to be infested with a multiplicity of characters, shows, songs and random atoms that are made to entertain small children and drive parents insane by repeating inside their skulls for days at a time :headbang: :D This thread is mostly about TV shows, though. There would be so much choice, otherwise, that people may well short circuit trying to think of the single worst childrens entertainment device in any media or format... :)

So what do you think are the absolute scrapings of the televised barrel? The choice is from an enormous selection and may well include more than one show, but let's see if we can agree on the worst... Or maybe be convinced that a pet hate has redeeming qualities.

For me - I can't stand Barney, Boo Bah or the Teletubbies. They make my brain hurt. Another one that is/was bad was a show a while ago called Mulligrubs. I had homocidal fantasies about that one! ;)

A bad one for the older kids was Captain Planet. Good messages - bad script.

How about anyone else?

I only hate kids shows that try too hard to appease to adults.

And oi, I loved Captain Planet!

Barney is the Antichrist. 'Nuff said. And I saw the Teletubbies once and could never figure out just what it is that they do. All they did was dance and laugh. And the idea that one could be singled out as gay is just one more reason to hate Jerry Falwell.

I've never seen Captain Planet, but I think the award for worst plot has to go to one from back in my day--Scooby Doo. Talk about one plot! You could play a drinking game with that one. One drink when the obvious culprit is introduced. One drink when somebody falls into a secret passageway behind a bookcase. One drink when Scooby and Shaggy look for food (in a haunted house?). One drink for the manic chase scene with the whole cast and the ghost/werewolf/Frankenstein monster/neocon/whatever. One drink when that being is unmasked as--tah dah!--the only other character who's been introduced! And two drinks when that character says:
"I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you MEDDLING KIDS!"

Barney is bad, but Boo Bah and Teletubbies are awful... what exactly is talking nonscence supposed to teach the kids? Their grandparents do too much of that "wubba wubba" gootchie coo baby talk already.

And the best children's show goes to........ Betwine the Lions. Gorsh I get a kick out of that one.

Angela Anaconda has got to be the worst, by far. I think a close second would be The Fairly Oddparents.

This from someone who has a secret affinity for Spongebob Squarepants.

Tinky-winky - the purple one with the handbag.

And teletubbies was aimed at very young children, learning through repetition - hence the constant repetition. The "bad speech" criticisms don't actually hold up when you look at what the programme was trying to do.

Actually, Teletubbies and Gumby are especially entertaining - after a few bong rips. The Teletubbies become a visually stimulating experience and Gumby becomes laugh your balls off funny.

nah all power rangers after they managed to milk the original story line dry, the real power rangers was almost half decent and looked like the best show ever compared to the crap they have now

and almost any show on nickelodeon (not nick of little 4 year olds, well i dunno havtn seen that in a long time it probbaly sucks too now) younger than 8 years roughly. i forgot when they took the last good show off the air

cartoon network is doing better now that they got off the "we are a novelty cartoon channel" crap with all their stupid shows based on ren and stimpy apparently.

I'll bet the Teletubbies go on *forever* when you're high, though. I once caught them while channel surfing. All they did was dance around and giggle for about five minutes. I kept waiting for them to actually do something until I just couldn't take it anymore. And with what pot does to your sense of time....
