An example: "There's the Bellingham high school student who was reprimanded by his vice principal for announcing a toy drive to help make children happy on Christmas day."

Methinks there's more to that story than what has been reported so far.

That is obviously an editorial, and I'm not familiar with that news source. I wouldn't cite articles from news corporations that aren't well-known and trusted. Especially not editorials for facts.

It's been generally agreed upon by all members of the right (and a few of the left even) that political correctness, at least to the extent that it exists today is ridiculous...

There are millions of examples of P.C. gone too far.

Well, I see these articles ("Teacher fired for saying the word "God" in class!!!!") and I wonder if they've been jazzed up a bit by the conservative religious movement. Maybe the teacher went a little farther than just uttering "God". Maybe the teacher was also telling the students that only the Christian God existed. Maybe the teacher was also telling the students that if they didn't believe in the Christian God, they were going to hell.

At all times they try to frame it to make it seem like Christianity itself is under a raging godless Democrat attack.

Considering around 75% of the country is Christian, it makes for a good wedge issue.

Being from the area myself, I can tell you that Ken Schram (the author of the article in question) is something of a troublemaker over here. He's made a number of inflamatory "Us vs them" style commentaries over the years, trying to make waves. It seems to help his career or something.

Yes PC behavior is quite irksome at times in the Seattle area, recently an enitre school gave up holloween because of 1 complaint (unfair to witches!). The person who complained could never be found for commment and it seems increasinly likely that it was a prank or just a cranky person.

The Wiccan community got together, talked it over, and came out publicly in support of holloween. Still, the school had to mute its observance. People kicked the dust, muttered under their breath, and moved on.

Far from an epidemic, it just comes and goes. Perhaps one incident every 9 months or so shows up, irratates everyone, then we have fun on our holidays anyway.

The things Ken said have actually been recent... and did ya hear about the LWHS incident? And we need ppl like him if ya ask me... ppl who'll say things others aren't willing to say...

Anyway, I'd also like to point out to people that he's not a conservative... he's actually quite a liberal if ya look at the kinda things he likes/dislike...

Did anyone scroll down to "Other News Stories"?

I just found this headline amusing:

Excuse me, when has corporate media EVER gone against the grain of state ideology and power? Remember when Libya was supposedly 'conclusively linked with the Berlin nightclub bombing', and so on?

Alternative News Sources are a great thing, we can't get too many of them in today's marginalized World.

Strange, he keeps on mentioning Christmas and Hanukah, but never, say, Eid. (I hope I spelt that right)

Speaking of PC gone too far, here's another two examples:
http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0%2C2106%2C3117391a12%2C00.html
Sydney Mayor has Xmas decorations toned down, so as to not offend other nationalities/religions.
And this one:

UK Red Cross shops not allowed to have religious festive displays, for fear of upsetting Muslims.

Though both stories are from Tabloids, so you have to take them with a grain of salt. If they are true, a pretty sad indictment on society and our desperation to bend over backwards to appease ppl.
