Non-Denominational Winter Holiday

This year, I got so sick of the crap that’s going on with religion, the government, and political correctness, that I decided to celebrate my own holiday. I call this new holiday Non-Denominational Winter Holiday. The point of NDWH is not to celebrate some famous figure or event, but rather to have fun in a season of joy. During NDWH you should give gifts, because everyone likes to get gifts. Those who celebrate NDWH should also put up lights, because they look nice and spread a feeling of good cheer. You can put up a tree, menorah, or anything else you like, because these are fun. NDWH is all about fun! NDWH is a time of happiness, where we can forget about all our differences. That is why it starts with Non-Denominational. It says Winter Holiday because it is in winter. Like those other ones. Holidays, I mean.

If your country, (or you personally) would like to celebrate Non-Denominational Winter Holiday with Robaria, then post here!

"A Festivus For The Rest Of Us"

Hehehe.

Personally, I call it the New Year. No-one can really object to celebrating a big calendar/clock rollover.

Should we make an "airing of grievances " thread or move straight on to "feats of strength" ?

I agree with Robaria, this whole political correctness thing is insane. I don't see why religion has to be supressed publically, it's not as if christmas/hanukkah/kwanzaa are going to insult other people by being practiced publically. I live in a multicultural country and the way I see it, how is it supposed to be "multicultural" if we surpress cultural celebrations?

Happy Non-Denominational Winter Holiday to all!

i remember back in highschool i had to get non-christmas christmas cards. a bunch of my friends were pagan/satanist and celebrated winter solsitce instead.

so i got ones with christmas trees drawn abstractly (those were pagan to start with anyways) and nothing on the inside and made personalized greetings wishing merry christmases and happy winter solstices to the appropriate people.

What about Decemberween? It's all the cool parts of RamaHanuKwanzMas, plus roasting bunnies and drinking mouthwarsh, and without any religious overtones. (Except for the traditional Decemberween play starring Dr. Christmas and The Popular Vote.)

"Decemberween, Decemberween,
You're fifty-five days after Halloween."

‘Twas awhile before Channaramakwanzmas
Written by:
Morghanne Q.E. Wolfe-Slattery, Euphorian

‘Twas awhile before Channaramakwanzmas
and all through the sustainable community,
not a Euphorian was thinking of anything but pure equity.
My current life partner and the developing persons all three
Had removed our helmets and were drinking ginkobiloba tea.
We-as a team had just done the dishes,
With dish soap organic-to not hurt the fishes.
When suddenly I felt the dwelling unit shake
I knew by the sound-Santa had made a mistake!
I ran through the yard,
where there was no sign of Christmas at all
Said come down-where’s your helmet-you’ll certainly fall!
You’ve made a mistake-this community’s P.C.
Nowhere here will you find a Christmas tree.
We celebrate the all-inclusive Euphorian holiday
Channaramakwanzmas offends no one-no how- no way!
Please leave here now-you are not welcome here
Unless you free those poor repressed reindeer
And the elves-while you’re at it…overworked, underpaid
And Mrs. Claus-is she anymore than your maid?
Santa looked at me then and said-seemly frayed
What’s this Euphorian holiday you nuts have made?
Hold on-Santa said-you can’t do this to me!
The GLers will stop you-they’ll set Christmas free

This is not how it goes-my Euphorian friends
So I must insist that this story now ends!!!

Happy Channaramakwanzmas!

Scrap your ETLAs (Extended Three-Letter Acronyms).

There already is a perfect English word for that, Yule.

"Christmas" is a substrate. Few Yule traditions are actually about Christianity. For example, giving gifts, the Yule Goat (Xian: Santa Claus), and the Yule tree are pre-Xian.

The word itself is the same word as "wheel", as in the "wheel of the year". If that can be offensive to someone, I'd like to know who that is. "Rabid followers of the dogma of linear time"??
