Free Antivirus?
Is there a program out on the net, which not only detects, scans and removes viruses...but is free as well?
Or is this just wishful hoping.

Yes we used to use AVG (6.0 is still free) they are switching versions around right now but they possibly have a free one yet

Not really.
Stay away from Mcaffe and especially symantic.
I have heard good things for Sophos.
The cost of the software means nothing if you don't get updates for new virus attacks and worms.....

That thing was weird... all it did was detect viruses.. and then out of nowhere it would tell me about them... full details. The thing never shut up... until i removed it.
but your AVG looks good...

AVG works for me.
Free download, free updates, selects and kills the viruses and trojans.
Combine with free : Sygate Personal Firewall
Ad-aware
Spy-bot
And you have a very good, free, PC protection system.
