The Cake Experiment

I was sitting around thinking yesterday, as I do most days. Thinking is very handy, you'll find. But it's what I was thinking of that is most important. I was wondering how differently each individual person thinks, and then I thought about a cake.

I thought about what the cake looked like on the outside, and what sort of cake it was. I didn't think about the cake I'd most like to eat, but the first cake that popped into my head. And for me when someone talks about cake, without mentioning its description, I almost always think of the same cake.

Hopefully while you were reading this, you too would have imagined a cake.

To appease my interest, I was wondering if everyone would post what sort of cake they thought of first including what sort it is and what it looks like. Please don't post the sort of cake you'd rather be eating, just the first one that comes to mind.

I'll post my cake later so I don't spoil anyone's imagination.

Chocolate Mud Cake. Which is also the type I'd most like to eat.

I'd claim it was a coincidence, but it's actually because that's the only type of cake I ever notice. Mmm... chocolate-y.

Birthday cake! Chocolate with vanilla frosting, and colorful letters.

That, which is sort of depressing that I was so easily able to find one in an image search...

It's that or the cake shaped like a race car that my grandma made me when I was six or seven...

When I hear cake, I picture the chocolate frosting first. Nothing else. Not even what kind of cake it acutally is on the inside. I only think of the chocloate fromsting on the outside. However, I also realized that if someone were to mention "sheet cake", I immediatly think of white cake with white frosting. It's wierd. For the record my favorite is yellow cake with choclate frosting.

Any cake that has been chilled. I dunno, but that tastes really good to me. Especially during the summer.

I think a couple of you lost the point of my experiment, but its still very interesting to me. I just wish I knew how to interpret this.

For the record, I always imagine first a plain vanilla layered cake with strawberry jam between the layers, and pink icing on the outside and white forting for highlights.

I just this this whole thing is weird because I don't even like cake, and I really wouldn't eat the cake I imagined. It's strange. If someone can explain this, I'd be very interested.

A small, sponge fairy cake. It has wings stuck in with buttercream and jam, strawberry i think.
It is also dusted in icing sugar.

Interesting question.

Chocolate dislikers of the world unite!!!

Which is strange since the first 'cake' I pictured was a round chocolate birthday cake with choclate icing and and two candles. Maybe its the first cake I remember????

I thought of a really dry, plain cake. It's sort of burnt and completely flat... Heck, it's got 2 layers but with nothing in between them. What a crap cake!

obviously that's not the cake I'd like to be eating.
