Agnostics Unite!!! 3

Torching Witches
06-12-2004, 13:27
As ever, this is not just a social club for agnostics, but for people who understand the difference between agnostic and atheist.

So basically, it's a place for people to be genial to each other. Pull up a nice leather armchair by the fire in my oak-panelled drawing room, or relax in the games room at the billiards table. Over-18s can sample my wide selection of single malts.

So welcome all you gentlemen and gentleladies, and remember:

"We don't know and we don't care!"

Yes, I think we've got some lying around here somewhere...

...Ah! Here we are. Hope you don't mind the gold stitching. I wasn't convinced at first, but I'm definitely warming to the idea.

I'll send it off at once.

Hmm, that was quick. Here you are, old chap.

Now, who's for a spot of marbles in the yard, before the afternoon rain sets in?

I hereby declare my disbelief in the great Goddess Eris Discordia (and hope she doesn't get annoyed) and join with my fellow agnostics in the hope that the apathetics can tolerate a chaotic agnostic in their midst.

Oh, you don't have to abandon your beliefs, what-what! You just have to embrace the concept that other people are really quite spiffing, that's all.

Come along and play marbles, and later I think we have rock cakes for afternoon tea.

You don't actually have to be agnostic - you just have to be tolerant of others and understand that agnosticism and atheism are not the same thing. It's quite simple really.

But...how would they get it out? Send in a robot? Send in someone blindfolded and let him feel his way around until he gets it?

I don’t have that problem … the once every two months that I actually get a day or two off … we party

And lets just say I don’t get nauseous at all … my normal drink used to be strait up hot 100 (100 proof cinnamon shapps)

The butler gets two weeks either side of Christmas off. He's skiing somewhere in the Alps right at this moment. So we have to make our own afternoon tea, etc, for a little while. Should be jolly exciting.

No. This isn't a place for religious discussion (well, not of that sort). Our motto is "We Don't Know And We Don't Care!" We're here to be pleasant to each other.

Just to reiterate, though. An agnostic claims not to know whether there is a god. An atheist claims there is no god.

Ok I got to post this and ask if you agree

Got into an argument with Someone claming to be agnostic in the “anti Christianity movement on the rize” thread

Confusing The meaning of agnostic with Gnostic

(while frustrating cause they kept telling us they knew better)

I was curious if anyone here has done the same thing … really believed in Gnosticism rather then agnosticism

Agnostic

ag•nos•tic P Pronunciation Key ( g-n s t k)
n.
1.
a. One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.
b. One who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism.
2. One who is doubtful or noncommittal about something.

And Gnostic

Gnos•ti•cism P Pronunciation Key (n s t -s z m)
n.
The doctrines of certain pre-Christian pagan, Jewish, and early Christian sects that valued the revealed knowledge of God and of the origin and end of the human race as a means to attain redemption for the spiritual element in humans and that distinguished the Demiurge from the unknowable Divine Being.

I know … I would have been fine if he was like “alright guess I am Gnostic”

But no he started with saying he was a REAL agnostic (which is the OPPOSITE of what he professed to be) then he continued to use GNOSTIC

And when we pointed it out (me first) he said that I shouldn’t tell him what he is studying to believe (if he is studying he should listen to other points of view … much less those with reputable sources like a DICTIONARY) and continued to say the rest of the world was wrong

Lol

At least I proved one thing

As critical as I sometimes am of Christianity it is usually because of its members blindness … and people like the Gnostic guy who walks around thinking he is superior while wrong got it just as bad ;)

I am argumentative equally
