I say go for it.
They are just unhappy because:

1. America isn't communist
2. American isn't officially athiest


And Central America has some of the most corrupt regimes on the planet.
Italy probably has more religion than they think it does. They're probably thinking of France where the government has banned religious expression in public places, something they themselves seek.

You know the saying:
America the greatest nation on earth. If you don't like this nation, then get the hell out.

1. America is becoming more authoritarian and militaristic
2. America is forsaking it's secular roots

I would say that these people are more informed as to the laws and traditions of foreign nations than you are.

I have my own saying:
We love this nation. If you want to change it to an authoritarian theocracy then you get the hell out.
