Peanut oil or vegetable oil--which is better for making popcorn?

Reason and Reality

Peanut oil, definitely. It smells so much better while it's on the stove, and tastes so much better, too.

Incidentally, I love putting in peanuts when I make foil pack dinners. They do so much for it.

I'm gonna throw in a neither. Olive oil is by far the best. Makes fluffy white popcorn, and if you add some salt right at the end, it is truly tasty.

vegetable oil is so much SMOOTHER, it allows for....oh...wait, POPCORN?

Uh...I dunno.

I'm going to go ahead and agree with this right here.

I thought vegetable oil was healthier. I know virgin olive oil is healthier but I thought too much olive oil was bad for your heart.

But that's true of regular vegetable oil as well.

Olive oil is healthier than regular vegetable oil, but it is also more expensive. Does that make you partly right? I'm not sure who's saying what anymore.

I get my popcorn in those handy microwavable bags that already have oil and butter in them... so... yeah. I haven't the faintest idea what they use.

Mmm, I wish I had some popcorn.

Pffft. I don't believe you. Do you have any idea how expensive that would be? Zoos don't let just anyone touch their zebras you know*

What's the big deaL?

Everybody's happy. We get yummy popcorn. Zebras get pleasured on a regular basis. It' win-win.

Best of all, since I don't care for popcorn, I'm eating my peanut butter cups. :)

Peanut butter is carconogenic and is an irritant.
Olive oil is mostly monounsaturated fat, most of the rest polyunsaturated fat and about 8% saturated fat.
Monounsaturated fat expells only the bad cholesterol from your blood, polyunsaturated fat expells all of it (including the good cholesterols) and saturated fat clogs your arteries, kills puppies and rapes children.
Peanut oil is horrible for you... vegetable oil is cheap and shitty and should only be used for... I dont know... deep frying random things in to give to homeless people. Canola oil is mildly better.
Sunflower oil is near olive oil, but not quite.
Avocado oil is the best oil ever -- better for cooking than even vegetable oil (has a really high smoking temperature), better for your health than even extra virgin olive oil. Its the only oil you can drink lots of without killing yourself! (Or something....)
Microwave popcorn usually uses canola oil.

Edit: DONT USE OIL AS LUBE. It just results very icky sheets and diarehha for a week.

Having said all that, I find making popcorn with any olive oil, then throwing big chunks of (real) butter in it makes the nicest popcorn.

My tumor and I have an understanding: As long as I keep feeting it peanut butter cups, it won't eat me instead. :)
