Alright, so here's the deal:
Randomly select a tune from your mp3 collection (or CDs for all you goody goodies out there). That's your country's new national anthem. perhaps we'll come up with something funny, or appropriate.
Hmm.
I got "Windpower" by Thomas Dolby.

March Of The Pigs by Nine Inch Nails.
Neither particularly funny, nor appropriate...oh, well, I could try again.

Nsendalen's Current National Anthem Is:
A Rather Reflective Tune That Speaks Tones, called:

*Sniff* So moving.

Glorious by Eddie Izzard.
Don't think that counts though (but it would be fantastic for sport events) so I tried again and got:
Don't Fear The Reaper by HIM
Violets and Kitties
06-12-2004, 04:03
Danzig - How the Gods Kill
second try
Therion - Typhon
hmmm... don't know that either is appropriate but there does seem to be a theme going on.
Erehwon Forest

Zen Café - Mies jonka ympäriltä tuolit viedään
Can't say it doesn't fit... For the Finnish-ly challenged, the first song of international renown that came up on random on the MP3 playlist is AC/DC - Dirty deeds done dirt cheap. Works.
HIM's DFTR sucks, BÖC all the way! (You're gonna want that cowbell!)
Gnomish Republics
06-12-2004, 04:12
Last Tango, by Leg Cramp. Quite good, seeing as it's from a movie about a Soviet gangster in a country filled with their Gnomish equivalents.

Beasti Boys - No Sleep Till Brooklyn

Alfredo Casero Techno Remix of Shimauta
Seven Nations - Seeds of Life
Or the Factory Song.
It's all good.
Styvonia
06-12-2004, 11:14
Barry McGuire - "Eve Of Destruction"
Hmm...
Cannot think of a name
06-12-2004, 11:18
Looks like it's Crosstown Traffic performed by The Gil Evans Orchestra....hmmm, maybe we'll see what's next......
ah,
I Often Think They Have Merely Gone Out! adapted from Mahler by Uri Caine....although I think my national anthem should be vague humming....

Smeagol-Gollum
06-12-2004, 11:32
Monty Python's Galaxy Song - I can live with that.
Reel big fish - Somebody hates me
Kind of appropriate since I am an evil dictator type person.

Led Zeppelin - Black Dog
lmao..
Rammstein - Amerika
I'm doing this five times:
First try- Toby Keith- Stays In Mexico (well, considering what I have in Earth II I guess it works...)
Second try- K-OS- Crabbuckit (works better...a more exploritative song)
Third try- Talib Kweli f/Mary J. Blige- I Try (a song about overcoming hardships...inspirational)
Fourth try- Beastie Boys- Right Right Now (Cool)
Fifth try- Blackmore's Night- Once In A Million Years (Medieval-ish...but the praise of nobility is a plus)

HIM's DFTR sucks, BÖC all the way! (You're gonna want that cowbell!)
I wouldn't say it sucks. But Blue Öyster Cults is far far superior. But hey, I chose it randomly, so what can I do?
Vittos Ordination
06-12-2004, 11:54
The Beta Band - Dry the Rain
Hardly applicable or even funny.
I'd try again, but I want to listen.
Parratoga
06-12-2004, 11:58
"Beer for my horses" by Toby Keith and Willie Nelson.
Matalatataka
06-12-2004, 12:05
First try - "Secret Of My Success" by Night Ranger
Second - "The Government's Gonna Test Me When I Pee" by Brian Robbins
Third - "Sit On My Face" by Monty Python.
I'll stick with that one...
"Life can be fine if we both sixty-nine" how true is that! Plus it's got that whole big band orchestral thing going for it. Definately National Anthem material.
Legless Pirates
06-12-2004, 12:38
Dream Theatre - Pull me Under :( My people aren't gonna like this
Lou Monte - Dominick The Donkey The Italian Christmas Donkey....
ROFL!!!!!

Finally got round to trying again:
Attempt #2: Zyclone B Bathhouse by NOFX....slightly controversial possibly.
Attempt #3: Blame Canada, from the South Park movie soundtrack. Maybe I will.
Attempt #4: Leaders Of Men by Joy Division. Yeah, that's appropriate I suppose.
Attempt #5: PTF2012 by VNV Nation. It could actually *be* a national anthem, so I'll go with that.

Hotel California - the eagles
