Okay, now I'm scared

In my thread on the new Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie Aust made a comment about how they were supposed to start filming shortly before The Last Trump, and now I'm scared. Not that it implies that the Last Trump is near (referring to the End of the World) but that we might have yet another crappy Isaac Asimov movie!

For those who don't know, The Last Trump is a short story by Isaac Asimov about, you guessed it, the Last Trump. It's a really good story, one of my favorites. The thought that Hollywood might be working on it sends shivers down my spine.

Does anybody know if they actually are making a film of the short story, or was Aust referring to the actual Last Trump?

"The Last Trump" is in fact a Biblical term, referring to the second coming of Jesus and Judgement Day. Issac Asimov wrote a short story, also entitled this, also about the end of the world. To be honest, I prefer "The Last Question".

I've been meaning to read Asimov, one of my friends says that he's absolutely amazing, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. And how many terms are there for the apocalypse and revelation? I swear, I think there was a saint or something that just sat around and thought up words and metaphors for the second coming.

First thing you have to do is get over your monolithic fear of this creature "Hollywood." It may take some steps-

Step 1-Acknowledge that just because it is a movie does not mean that it comes from Hollywood. It may not even be distributed by a Hollywood company.

Step 2-You've liked movies that have come out of Hollywood. Admit it. C'mon, admit it...

Step 3-It is possible for a budgeted film to actually be good. You all liked the Matrix (I hated it), Lord of the Rings, etc. It happens.

Now-fears or anticipation. Just like picking your horse, do some research. imdb.com or rottentomatoes.com are your friends. On both those sites and a Google search I could not find any info on The Last Trump, so for demonstration I will use Hithhiker's Guide.
Clicking on the director we see that his only other credits are Blur videos. If you like Blur videos, then hey...But he is also associated with the Shawn of the Dead and Ali G people, so he has that kind of humour...

Looking at the credits there are three credited writers, never a good sign.

Mos Def is playing Ford Prefect. Hmmmm.

And using those kind of details you can decide if you want to get ramped up for a film or go into hiding.

And then you can stop being all afriad of the bogey man named Hollywood.....

I couldn't find it anywhere on any list, including Asimov's credits on imdb.com. Nothing, not even a Google search. I don't think it's happening, but I could always be wrong.

Oh, thank God. I could not have handled another Asimov movie adaption. After I, Robots unrelation to any part of the book and Foundations proposed "Champion of Love" I think I would actually need to shoot myself if this was happening.
