Elections are only one part of democracy. We need to think strategically about direct action, learn from a rich history of nonviolent activism, and develop new tactics to take on this administration.

Let's start from the start: Inauguration Day.

On January 20th, 2005, we're calling for a new kind of action. The Bush administration has been successful at keeping protesters away from major events in the last few years by closing off areas around events and using questionable legal strategies to outlaw public dissent. We can use these obstacles to develop new tactics. On Inauguration day, we don't need banners, we don't need signs, we just need people.

We're calling on people to attend inauguration as they are: members of the public. Once through security and at the procession, at a given signal, we'll all turn our backs on Bush. A simple, clear and coherent message.

Hmm. Let's see. One reason I didn't vote for Kerry. I am a combat veteran myself, though not of Vietnam. So I won't bring up the Vietnam protesting. Maybe he had his reasons.

Let's just see about all the men he served with. Let's ask all of them to stand up, and say whether they think he's a good leader (after all, he was an officer). They can say he was great, or really bad, or not say anything at all.

It's surprising that only one was willing to stand up for him, and he was paid to be on Kerry's campaign. The rest WERE NOT PAID A DIME and to a man, they said he wasn't a good leader.

If I interviewed 34 of MKULTRA's close friends and associates (and let's assume he's a budding revolutionary, which is one of the more honorable, if not historically pleasing occupations), and 1 said he was a great revolutionary leader, and 33 said he was a yellow running dog capitalist pig, I think it would be rather hard for me to be convinced that he was a great revolutionary leader.

So you are suggesting total idealogical surrender to whatever power of faction may be in office. You are suggesting that the moderates and liberals in this country just roll over and play nice - kinda like the neo-cons did while Clinton as in office.

Oh wait - they neo-cons didn't do that, did they? No, they organized political action and spread the word of their idealogies in an attempt to try to change the political direction of the nation.

I have absolutely zero respect for anyone, of any politically idealogy, who would suggest that peaceful methods of protest and organizing and carrying on of the political process in general should simply be abandoned either because their preferred political party is in power or because, having bought into bullshit totalitarian propaganda, they are afraid of free speech.

Let's just see about all the men he served with. Let's ask all of them to stand up, and say whether they think he's a good leader (after all, he was an officer). They can say he was great, or really bad, or not say anything at all.

Let's create a diversion somewhere else… I know, let's have a war in a country whose leader hates Osama (Iraq, or Eye-Raq, or whatever) and so doesn't have connections with him, and let's pretend to be Christian while widening the rich-and-poor gap, and then let's pollute the world and tell all the Americans that it's not that bad!

I think it's rather clever, and it doesn't have anything to do with WMD.

Islamic radicals are hotheads - easily angered and easily drawn to conflict. Case in point, the original invasion of Afghanistan by Soviet forces. It attracted Islamic militants like a super magnet.

Afghanistan was subdued too quickly, and it's not as easy to get to as it once was (since the US isn't helping you get there like it did in the good old days).

So, start a war in easy walking distance from Syria, Iran, Saudi, etc. Sit there as an occupier.

If you build it, they will come. To Iraq, not the US. And commit suicide in large numbers.

They are too stupid to realize what's happenning, and so are some other people who believe that we should wait until they are in our suburbs before we ask them to play nice. :sniper:
