Basically what the title says. Should helping others be on the basis of how much they need it, or how much they deserve it?
For example, if a person ruins their own life through bad choices (and were educated about the perils of said bad choices), should we help them? They obviously don't really DESERVE the help, since they screwed themselves over after being taught not to, but at the same time, they obviously NEED help.
Would you help them?
This seems to be at the core of many left-right wing disagreements.
Personally being right wing I would not. I think if someone needs my help, and deserves it, then (if I am able to) I would definitely not hesitate to, but if they ****ed themselves over, I really couldn't care less whether they need it or not.
