Sean Connery and Johnny Depp

Connery is not the best Bond (Brosnan is way better, Moore is possibly better) and has little to no real acting skills.

Depp...I don't know. There's just something about him that I cannot stand. Perhaps its simply the movies he chooses to be in. Outside of edward scissorhands, which was ok, I've yet to find one that I like.

ok ok i can agree about sly. he really isnt much of an actor. he had a bit of good luck but you can see that outside of extreme action (where he actually has to TALK) he's just not up to snuff

BUT

if sean connery and johnny depp arent good actors WHO IS?

connery has done WAY more than just bond and he has done them extremely well. the breadth of his acting is impressive

same with johnny depp, he is the best actor of his generation.

The *most* overrated would have to be johhny depp.

Then maybe colin farrel, anyone with "baldwin" in their name, jet li,
ooh, that one jackass... guy in the 'alfie' movie, and tom hanks.

As for actresses, definitely julia roberts.

Julia Roberts. Johnny Depp. Pretty much all the pretty faces who moviegoers swoon over, since that is precisely why and how they got their careers in the first place.

But Sean Connery? Blaspheme! You'll miss him when he's gone and the remake of Hunt for Red October (since all successful movies will, inevitably, get remade) he'll be replaced by the likes Johnny Depp. Then you'll see I'm right. :p

Oh yeah, and all the kids in the Harry Potter movies. Rotten turds. Let's see them act if they had their ears cut off! Ha ha, yeah, eat that suckers!

In Connery's case, it was bad script writting. He stopped playing Bond after he read the books.....

Ever ask someone about Charleton Heston? I seriously doubt "The Ten Commandments" will ever come up unless they are a huge classic movie buff or were from that time.

But we can't forget the likes of Steven Seagal and Chuck Norris.

I've heard a lot of complaints centered around "(S)he's nothing but a pretty face". Sometimes, Heather Graham for an example, it can be very true. But it seems a lot of people are just trying to take a jab at the more famous actors/actresses in order to sound clever. Depp, Roberts, Connery etc...looks don't get them through all the movies they have been in. Each of them brings their talented presence to the big screen. By the by, whoever insulted Heston to you I say "Damn you! Damn you all to Hell!" :D

Ok - maybe he wasn't great in Nightmare on Elm Street, and maybe Pirates of the Carribean was a bit of a 'summer blockbuster' popcorn film... but there are some spectacular Depp performances out there... "Dead Man", "Don Juan DeMarco", "Chocolat", etc.

I just think it strange... I think he's got to be one of the two best actors of his generation.

Nicole Kidman is the best actress and the most beautiful woman in the entire world. She is radiant - her praises should be shouted from rooftops and church towers; her name will live forever in the hearts of those whom she inspires.

No comment should be made concerning her physical beauty, for it insults one's intelligence to even mention the topic; for it is obvious to any blind person how gorgeous and staggeringly beautiful she is - but I am afraid that I must touch upon the topic, asking for indulgence.

Her beauty is utterly incomparable. Her elegance is both envied and respected. Her ethereal beauty is certainly not of this world - how can it be, when there is nothing that even remotely approaches her charm in any way? What other reasonable conclusion can be drawn? This priceless gem of the silver screen must be valued for being as great and wonderful as it actually is.

Her very presence is enough to make one tremble with love, admiration, and awe; it is enough to cause one to fall into deep reveries, focusing only on her beloved essence; it is enough to cause one to devotedly and whole-heartedly worship her for the powerful goddess that she must surely be.

depp is NOT a pretty face
he is dead sexy
but that does detract from him being a really good actor. who do you think is BETTER? someone in his same age range, dont be saying "laurence olivier"

marlon brando only sucked AFTER the godfather. his stanley kowalski was GOOD. (streetcar named desire) catch "on the waterfront" sometime. excellent work.

EVERYONE thinks of charlton heston as GOD from his "10commandments" role, not that he was GOOD. but it defines him way more than the ape movies.

julia roberts doesnt really have a pretty face. its ACTING. look at her pics from her regular life. nothings special. look at her onscreen and you cant take your eyes off her. THAT is what makes her a star.

and while we're here are you SURE alec baldwin, geena davis and hayden christiansen are overrated? i didnt know anyone thought they were good

"Sex"? Do you actually refer to sexual intercourse? I hope you refer to her sexual nature with a correct understanding in mind: a heavenly creature such as herself would not deign to engage in such a rude and unwholesome activity unless it were with that fortunate of fortunate servants who gave her her only pleasure.

Actually the ride was originally based off a book I believe, and the movie goes with the book. The Haunted Mansion did suck. I think Geoffrey Rush also helped 'Pirates'. It was a nice summer movie all around though.

He's not an actor, he's a filmmaker.

Hilary Duff and Ashlee Simpson are overrated- yes, there are some poor soulds who think they are good.

Sorry, but I think Steve Martin is overrated. I don't think he's that funny. Same goes for whoever the hell plays Mr. Bean.

People need to stop this crap about Johnny Depp. He really is a good actor. Seems like some people posting on this thread just want to mention big names so they can seem really scene and indie.

Ok ok i get where you coming from but need to disagree at some points. Connery mightened be the best actor but he brought class and cockiness to the character of James Bond which was really all he needed. As for Jonny Depp i think because people think he is so sexy his talents are somewhat overlooked. I personally think he is an amazing actor. If you've watched the secret window you'll see how natural and focused he is....i have to say im a jonny fan all the way
