What are y'alls favorite European marques?

Personally I favor Aston Martin, TVR, Lotus, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Venturi (Renault), Lancia, Maserati, and Ferrari. I will probably never own any of those, but I can dream, yes? As you can probably guess, my dreams are very expensive. :)

Well i am just taking the swedish reputation of well built, usually quite fast cars...plus it looks sooooo good. Cheaper option, Smart Roadster Brabus, sports car but with great feul economy :D And it looks ace too :D

True, Ladas are meant to last, even if they do enjoy the same jokes as skodas...such as

Why do Ladas have heated rear windows?

To keep your hands warm when you push them.

Yes, it's very nice. Which brings me to my question. Do you happen to know if they are currently bringing it to the American market? I haven't been keeping up on these things as well as I should have. :(

The REAL Classics? I kinda like the Atlanta and Type 64. Thats not bad, remind me of early 19's gangsters. But I'm not a very huge fan of the classics.

Classics are nice to drive in the countrysides.. But I live gobsmack in the city.

Yeah, some of the smaller sporty ones don't have such a low centre of gravity, so take a corner fast enough and one wheel shall be free wheeling! But thats happened with a few cars...unless you were in a 1st model A-Class in which case you would just tip over :) thank god for the moose test :D

There is a guy in Maine who collects them. He has 17 sitting on his property, all different colors. Unfortunately the state won't let him register them for road use.

(I think they are scared that once people see how good they are, the domestic car companies will be wiped out).

Not to quote company lines or anything, but really-Porsche. There is no subsitute.

What, like 17,000 sports car victories, the first privately sold Porsche was raced the next weekend and won. Something like 17 (alright, one of those numbers is 17...) Le Mans victories, the next closest (Ferarri) doesn't even have double digits. Those cares are the greatest, the yardstick. You can find cars that do one or two things better than a Porsche, but nothing does everything better than a Porsche.

When they announced the SUV the Carrera GT was still a secret, so when they said they where pulling out of Le Mans because they needed thier engineers for another program I was extra pissed. The thought that they weren't racing because they wanted to build, ugh, a truck....

True enough. I don't consider it a Porsche until it takes a checkered flag. Hell, even the 914 got some wins.

I wish my little snit mattered. Given my income level I'm pretty sure no one at Porsche is going, "I think we aughta listen to this guy-he could unnoticably effect the sale of basketcase 914s....."

sigh....

I would say someday, but with what I do, I'm lucky I can consider the basketcase 914s....
