Somebody just said all the star treks...

Wrath of Kharn is voted the best star trek movie ever, and rightly so...

which is unusually good for me because it's the only thing at all star trek I ever liked or ever will.

IMHO

First Blood pt II + Rambo III

Cube Hyperspace thingy

Generally any walt disney sequels - where they have 1/10th the budget and no original voice actors

Battle Royale II

Return of the King (come on, you could cut it out the trilogy and no one would notice)

Any Roger moore bond movies - most noticably octopussy / view to a kill

Terminator III

Alien Ressurection

Does Alien vs Predator count as a sequel/prequel to Alien or Predator?

I think I may have spotted a flaw in your reasoning :o)
Lotta people read the books before the films were made, the might be a little puzzled by the films stopping after two towers!

Bloodsport 4

Yes, they made a Bloodsport 4. I was not aware there was even a Bloodsport 3 until I saw 4 (I assumed they didn't skip a number, although I still haven't seen 3 anywhere :) )

It's HORRIBLE.

I see many mediocre-to-bad sequels to mediocre-to-bad movies on this thread. To me that isn't a big disappointment. I'm mean really, Jurassic Park? Okay, nice dinosaurs, but no story and precious little acting, so how disappointed can you be in the sequel. They both would have made great Drive-In movies.

Also, Star Trek doesn't count, because you can pretty much expect that every other movie in the series will be bad.

I completely agree with the person who suggested the Matrix sequels. Both were unwatchable, pretentious crap.

For my money, though, the worst sequel was The Godfather III. Not because it was so bad; in fact if there had never been Godfather I and II it would have been an okay movie. Not great, but good. However, because the first two movies are two of the greatest American film ever made, the fall off to number III is all the greater.

Terminator III
The first two Terminator films were classics of their genres. The only saving grace of the third one was how unintentionally funny it was.

Why do you hate Matrix: Reloaded? I mean, I can understand Revolutions (It was crap) but Reloaded was cool. Not as good as the original, but still pretty good.

I hope you're joking. Either that or you're just a stupid asshole (please, don't take too much offense-I just couldn't think of anything else strong enough to express my incredulity).

You NEED the Return of the King in order to wrap up everything. It answers all the questions, not the least of which is "who won?", has a couple of stunning battle scenes. (I especially like the part where the king of the Nazgul says "No man can kill me.", and whatever her name is pulls off her helmet, says "I am no man!", and shoves her sword into his/it's helmet. Awesome. Just awesome.)

The Two Towers, while it left out some parts I would've like to have seen from the books ("Saruman! Your staff is broken!"-don't know what I'm quoting? Read it. It's an incredible scene. I re-read it five times before forcing myself to move on.), was still a great movie. You need all three movies so that everything makes sense. Of course, some people don't go to the movies to watch and think somewhat about them-they just go to see stuff blow up and people die. But then again, the Two Towers has plenty of that, dosen't it?

The special effects were terrific in all three of them too.

Maybe after reading the books you have a greater appreciation for the movies. I do, anyways.

You can't call a movie crappy that swept the Academy Awards. Crappy movies don't win Oscars. It's an easily proven fact.

As to my pick for worst sequel ever? I think Star Wars Episodes I & II weren't all that great (Anakin stunk in both of them), but I still eagerly await Episode III that comes out in May.

I would have to say... On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Never heard of it? Didn't think so. It was the only Bond movie with George Lazenby. Never heard of him? Didn't think so. The movie itself stunk (not nearly enough killing-though plenty of sex, as always), and Lazenby, probably because he came right after Connery, just isn't a good enough Bond. All the other Bond movies are great, though.

That's my two cents and a slap in the face. Make of it what you will.

As they are two of the worst movies ever made.

Do crossovers count? If they do, I'll go with Freddy vs. Jason. I never saw it but it looked unbearably horrible.

Nearly all of these have already been said, but...

Jason X
Matrix 2 and 3
Jurassic Park 2 and 3
Cruel Intentions 2
Aliens Vs. Predator (if it counts)
Star Wars Episode 1 (No. 2 was slightly better.)

I didn't think the LOTR movies were that bad...no comparing to the books of course but that was expected.

Sweet crap, how'd this get three pages without anyone mentioning Highlander II. Sure, the other sequels in this series where god-awful, but this one was particularily bad. From the visible spring-boards, to the ridiculous new back story (that has Connery's character being 'sent' to earth 500 years after his 'birth' on earth....), McCloud being so immortal his clothes don't burn......just stupid.

So, Highlander II.
