Make them listen to Barney(the dinosaur) nonstop for 30 years. After that 1 year in solitary refinement.
After that parole maybe.
I would like exile or life imprisonment (death is too easy)

Of course, after those 30 years they have unfortunately gone insane and committed suicide to escape "the pain."

Of course, I would like to point out that this is assuming they are given a fair trial, and found "beyond a reasonable doubt" to be guilty of the crime of treason. Keep in mind, this could be anything from collaboration in the 9/11 attacks to moving to Iraq and fighting American troops. Protesters would not fall into this category.

Well the fireing squad isn't always needed. Electric chairs, lethal injection, etc works just the same. Though I'd say firing squads for the worst cases of treason.
