After polytechnics became universities, Newcastle Polytechnic couldn't decide on a name. All the obvious ones were taken. One day, someone had a great idea for a name: the Central University of Necastle upon Tyne. They had 5000 T-shirts printed with the acronym printed on it before they pulled the plug on the name. Work it out for yourselves :D

I haven't flown LOT since 1983. Back then, they were one of the first International carriers to have smoking and non-smoking sections... the left side of the plane was smoking, the right hand was non-smoking!
