Holy crap, I just listened to Bush's speech in Halifax

Listen, if you're so moved. Much eye-rolling will ensue.

There's just so much of his crap I can stomach... I'm feeling a very real need to purge myself right now. It kills me knowing that Paul Martin wants to cozy up to this creature.

The bit about...nahh, listen for yourselves. It's depressing, and the irony is that it's ostensibly meant as a message of hope. Somehow the guy reminds me of the Mule from the Foundation Trilogy. It's like he generates a field of stress and negative emotion, no matter what he's saying. Maybe if I keep typing I can shake this feeling of having been lightly dusted with bullshit.

The childish swipe at Chretien was just that. Childish. Now, someone's probably going to say that Chretien deserved it for failing to reign in his loose-lipped aide, or for allowing Carolyn Parrish to continue making anti-American/anti-Bush statements to the press. But don't forget, Paul Martin dumped Parrish from caucus only after she attacked the Liberal Party and Paul Martin, not for her stunt on 22 Minutes - crushing a Bush doll underfoot. Chretien himself never insulted a former US president while he was in office.

In light of this schoolboy-ish smarm, I certainly would hope that Chretien air his own frank opinions of the current administration. The crap-o-meter ran off the charts during that speech, and sometimes the needle stayed off the charts for several minutes at a time. I can't believe that a man like that could be electable, let alone elected. Hell, I can't believe that a man like that could be elected not just in last month's election, but in ANY election, at any point in time and space. Unless he is very much like the Mule after all, that is...

Eeek!

I await your brickbats.

Hey, it's pretty funny: jokes about NHL hockey, Jean Poutine, Alberta Beef... I thought they were funny.
Oh, he's good.. he uses Mackenzie King as a tool for his rhetoric. Man has a skill.

I can never decide if its real or some kind of act to appear down to earth and a regular guy - both of which are really scary thoughts.

Lyndon Johnson anyone? Both parties have had their shares of fools.
