I don't think it's good for the image of Notre Dame that the first head football coach that ND didn't honor the first contract of was black. That's going to hurt recruiting.

Congrats on the Rose bowl.

Go Tech. Beat Miami!

I don't think it was a good decision, but my opinion may be biased. I wanted Willingham to stay at ND as long as possible so he wouldn't ever come back to Stanford. By the same token, I wanted Stanford to keep Buddy Teevens so that we could beat them every year. I am a hardcore Cal fan, by the way. ;)

People, get real.

The man Sucked as a Coach. There was no racial bias, the man sucked. I wanted him to win since he got hired, but that wasn't happening.

I dunno what ND needs, perhaps a miracle. They are a fading Dynasty...

Personally, I think the expectations had been too high. I mean, since it's the Golden Domers (Jim Rome fans know what I mean), a 10-2 season with a "minor" bowl bid is considered a failure, and we all know ND hasn't had such a record under T Willingham.

I truly long for the day when a coach gets hired or fired, and his skin color is not a factor, either real or imagined.

He's the first coach that Notre Dame has ever fired. And he had a winning record with ND.

He never got a chance to develope his recruiting class. He was knee deep in Bob Davie's crap (how come BD got his 5 years?).

Willingham is a good coach. He was successful with Standford, an enviorment very similar to UND.

His players graduated and there hasn't been any big scandals since he got there. He needed time to bring in the right players for the West Coast offence.

Willinghams biggest problem was the boosters. He wasn't winning right now and he didn't like schmooze at the gold tournaments and that crap.

He wasn't there buddy. Even though he did everything else right for the school.

Great job, UND. You just set recruiting back 10 years. And us fans are so friggin thrilled about it.

He wasn't the first coach fired. I believe Davies was fired, but he had 5 years. Tyrone had his one good year with Davies' players and sucked this year with his own.

I'm a Stanford fan. I like Ty until the day he betrayed me and went to the evil empire. Go Michigan and go Stanford.

So can we blame Stanford's recent woes on Ty's recruiting?

I love Michigan, too (I hope to be in their class of 2013). Anyway, Willingham wasn't that terrible a coach, was he? You can't win every season, not even at Notre Dame.

At Notre Dame they expect you to win every year. If Lloyd Carr produced back to back 6-5 seasons he would be out of Michigan. BTW, I'll be a part of the class of 2009 at Michigan!!! My feelings of ill will towards Willingham comes from his treason at Stanford. Another thing to point out is what the band was planning on doing this year. The past two years they were not allowed at Stanford vs. ND games as they planned on taking the field in white sheets and lynching an manichan of Willingham. The Stanford band is out there. They ran on the field naked when my uncle was a member of it and they mooned the cameras the last time they were in the Final 4. (Lets not mention the 1979 Cal game)

The Stanford band is a sad instance of a classless group in an otherwise very classy university. And the dollies are whores.

Anyway, 6-5 is good. That's a winning season. And Willingham won every year he was at Stanford, even took them to the Rose Bowl, if I recall correctly, so you can't say he's a bad coach. I kind of liked for Notre Dame to be at least pretty good, but now I hope that their program falls to pieces so that they'll look stupid.

University for Spoiled Children.

They are like the yankees of the pac-10. screw them.

However, I'm put in the awkward position of wanting them to beat UCLA, who I like, because if they do, Cal could go to the rose bowl. And if SC wins the nat'l champtionship and Cal wins the rose bowl, maybe people would start taking the pac-10 seriously.

It is good for most teams, but not good for Notre Dame. ND expects National Champions or BCS every year. You have to understand their tradition. Ty was good at Stanford, better than he was at ND. I want ND to fall to pieces as I've always hated them.

Willingham never got the chance to recruit a second class and implement a proper West Coast offense like he had at Stanford. Remember, good recruiting takes a few years to get rolling. Spurrier and Osborne didn't win national titles their first 3 years either.

Willingham would have needed the full 5 years to show any true progress.

UND has proven it wants to be another football factory like OSU or Nebraska. This infuriates me to no end.

Let me start off by saying that I hate Notre Dame.

Now, the coach of Utah (I'm blanking on his name) has been interviewed extensively by ND. This can only be a good thing for ND fans, and bad for the rest of us. That coach has successfully turned two poor programs (Utah and Bowling Green) into not only winning teams, but damn good teams. If he gets hired, ND will be turned around. If this coach can go 20-2 over two years with Utah, imagine what he could do with a college of prestige. It's just too bad that Notre Dame's future would be bright with him.

...and for my final thoughts...

As a student of Pitt, and a guy who's partied with Tyler Palko, I have to root for my Panthers. Elsewhere in the country? Penn State and Cal have always had a soft spot in my college football heart. Oh yeah...and the BCS blows.
