Hi,

Has anyone read the new Stephen Donaldson novel "The Runes of the Earth" - it's the first of four novels in the final "Thomas Covenant" Chronicles. It's just been released in hardback here.

I'm a huge fan of Donaldson's other works, especially the first and second Chronicles trilogies (as well as the Gap series, Mordant's Need and his short stories - Daughter of Regals and Reave the Just).

Is it worth reading? I probably will read it eventually, but I've heard mixed reviews...

TIA

Weren't the last chronicles supose to be the Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant?

From Amazon:

At the end of the sixth book, Covenant is killed, both in the real world and in the Land, as his companion, Linden Avery, looks on in horror. His death is both the ultimate sacrifice-and his redemption.

At the opening of The Runes of Earth, ten years have passed. Linden Avery comes home one day to find her child building images of the Land with blocks, and senses a terrible foreboding. She had thought that she would never again be summoned to the Land-nor ever again see her beloved Thomas Covenant. But in the Land, evil is unmaking the very laws of nature. . . .

Yeah I know I've seen it in the bookstore. Its Just if I remeber right the last series was called The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant so that was my rather crapy atempt of a joke.
