I live in ottawa.Due to Bush's visit there are protests. They just turned violent. I live very close to downtown.(Where the riots are right now). I have to be at work in half-an-hour. Work is in the middle of downtown. Idon't know what to do.

Perhaps you should skip work today...it might be danergous. You don't want to be in the middle of an angry mob.

Couple things.

1. The riots are big. I heard taht up to 25 busloads of protesters are comming in from Toronto
2.There are nolaternate routes I can take.
3. Calling in sick seems like a good idea.
4.I'm friends with the owners of the places I want stuff from. If anything, i'll be protecting it from looters.

It seems pretty confided to the area around Chateau Laurier...unless you work there you should be fine.

That is a well planned riot.

Fuck, those people in Ukraine don't get violent with their protests, which have been over a week long, over something that means a great deal to them but a few Canadians can't manage to hold theirs back for a few hours?

Hey you think that's organised, in France's period of revolution and counter-revolution, they only needed half a day to set up a revolution!

If it's all anti-Bush, rig up a board on your car with an anti-Bush slogan on it, and if you're walking wear a flag round you or a sheet with an anti-Bush slogan on it.

I guess Canadians have a different ideology than the Ukrainians. In Ukraine the mindset it is "If we stand here and disrupt government for long enough, perhaps we'll get what we want." In Canada, the mindset seems to be "KILL THAT F**KING B*SATARD!!!" To each their own (no offence intended towards Canadians, they really are just different in my view).

None taken, alot of these protesters were the ones who destroyed downtown Quebec City in 2000 or whatever it was. They are repeat offenders and repeat idiots.

I say go to work. If you 'accidentally' run someone over, so be it. Progressive darwinism in action. (yes, there's a pun in there)

Riots? In Canada? Violence? How very...un-Canadian. That's something I would expect to see here in the States. Must be that whole globalization of culture thing.
