Exactly. Honesty is great, but there are ways of saying things that don't hurt people's feelings, or don't hurt them as badly. Tact and diplomacy don't have to mean lying, they just mean taking some consideration for how what you're saying will make the other person feel.

But then I'm a heart-on-her-sleeve oversensitive idealist type, so there you go.

Sarcastic one-liners are not brutal honesty. Its opinion and obnoxious.
Honesty points out a provable point and backs it up with proof or reasonable support to a hypothesis.
There are a number of people here who could benefit from thinking honestly before posting.

brutal honesty is perfectly legitimate when pointing out others foibles.
