"It has been Jerusalem's dirty little secret for decades: Orthodox yeshiva students and other Jewish residents vandalizing churches and spitting on Christian clergyman as they walk along the narrow, ancient stone streets of the Old City."

I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion, but the Christian clergy are Orthodox, not Catholic.

I'll amend my statement.

Gee, you'd think these kids would have gotten over the Inquisition and the Crusades by now! :( I mean, they're just as bad by doing this as the RC Church was when they turned a blind eye to the Third Reich.

I lived in the OC for two years. The clergy there are both the RC and the EO.

It's a shame and all that there's still this intolreance.

*let me see if I can dig up similar things happening with Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist etc students*

Did you read the article (which appeared in The Forward, a Jewish newspaper published in NYC)?

"In the wake of the incident, a top Armenian Church official told the Forward that his church is calling on the Israeli government and on rabbis around the world to help put a stop to the offensive, decades-long abuse....Interior Minister Avraham Poraz called the yeshiva students' behavior "intolerable," and asked Internal Security Minister Gideon Ezra to "take all the necessary steps to prevent these incidents in the future."

The chairman of the Knesset's Interior and Environment Committee, Yuri Stern, said the incidents resulted from ignorance and stupidity...."

The fact you did not see it is not necessarily conclusive proof that it has never happened.

the Ultra-Orthodox Jews of Mea Shearim have been known to misbehave at times to Christians and even non-religious Jews. I went to the old city this past summer and experienced no such problems. I'm a practicing Jew, but not fanatically so. I know that the rest of Judaism condemns such actions.

Also, I would argue that spitting is better than bombing

So, now we blame the action of a few people of a religion on the entire religion?

Depends, if the spittle got into a persons eye, causing them to trip and fall down a steep set of steps, the carnage of a whole group of students doing it could be horrific!

I think if you look more closely you will see neither this thread, nor the article sited (which is from a Jewish newspaper) generalized about all Jews, but stated very specifically the culprits are some Orthodox yeshiva students in Jerusalem.

Right, but the implied meaning of this thread was that Jews are inolerant beasts. The title is misleading

Therefore I conclude, all jews are bad, all christians are good, and everyone that is not jewish has been justified to do whatever they've done to jews in history up to now, including the cruzades, the inquisition, the holocaust and terrorism. Period. The end.

Yes, that's what's implied to other irrational beasts. What's implied to the rest of the world, is that yeshiva orthodox students did it. No more, no less. Any similarity to any other act commited by jews is mere coincidence. And also, any similarity commited by the intolerant beasts of Europe and or Arabia these days, like lynching, destroying tombstones, painting swastikas to synagogues, and killing jews in the subways of london, berlin or france, besides 'suicide bombings', whether christian, muslim, or other is coincidence.

Only an idiot would jump to such conclusions.

Really? Connect the dots for me that leads to that conclusion. Or are you saying any criticism of behavior by people who are Jewish is by definition anti-Semitism?

Exactly, but this thread is for idiots anyway. The thread's subject is idiotic, who cares about posting this kind of insignificant b.s. Why make a big deal about how some stupid orthodox jewish kids spit on a church, if that happens everyday in Europe with synagogues without anyone even mentioning it? Or worse, palestinian kids that arm and prepare themselves to kill innocents with a suicide bombing?

Alomorgodo, you wouldn't happen to be Jewish would you?

Just trying to understand what would make him so defensive and easily offended when it comes to Jewish individuals. Now, I think his mindset is the same as that of the people who said "Passion of the Christ" was anti-semitic. In both cases, it seems to be a "What!? You think they made a mistake!? Well, you must hate Jews!?"
