What does everyone have against techno? - A rant.

It seems these days that techno is somehow a brand of "uncoolness". For example, when i tell my friends that i listen to techno they all of a sudden start to laugh at me. When i put on my favorite Techno Online-radio( www.di.fm ), they tell me it utterly sucks and walk away. I have but one question.

Why?

What DOES everyone have against techno? It seems that everyone enjoys listening to crappy singers who sing about their erotic adventures, and yet I am the one who is persecuted? Listen, i'm a productive member of society. Hell, im more productive than ALOT of people. Yet i cant even listen to music without being branded an outcast? Whats wrong with listening to the energetic electronic vibes?

Why do I like techno? Because its energetic, interesting, and deeply involving. It also gets your immagination going. There arent any words(or at least not alot of em) to screw up your thoughts, so you can come up with some VEEEERRRRYYY interesting posts when listening to techno(i do it all the time, EXPECIALLY when im doing FT). Also, people who make Techno music arent some spoiled rich brat who gets paid $2 million just to say "[Insert Brand Name Here] Is the best [insert useless object] ever!". They make music because they WANT to, not because of the money.

All in all, what exactly DOES the world have against this music that, when it comes down to it, is one of the more creative types around?

Well, theres a difference between us and "them"(as in Non-NS'ers).

We're baisically nerds, freaks, and or outcasts if we have more than 100 posts. Why? Because "cool" people wouldnt play these things :D

I don't like Techno (or most of the dance genres) because I find it too synthetic, atonal, repetative, and percussive. It actually gives me headaches quickly everytime I've tried to listen. :(

But wouldn't say it's uncool or bad music. Just not for me.

Of course, lot's of people find some of my tastes in music (be-bop and cool jazz, Cajun, Baroque and Renaissance, or C&W, for example) "uncool".

Dude! Cajun rocks! But yeah I am one eclectic bastard. Techno is good for thinking. But Dropkick Murphy's, Skindred, Rammstein, Waxies Dargle, and Loup Garou are good for losing yourself at least to me.

Hmm... I can't download anything (I post from a very basic system) but I just had a look at his wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venetian_Snares). I'll try to give him a listen if I get a chance, but from that description... Thanks though. :)

techno problems:

1/bad image, associated with raves and people tripping out on X
2/who doesn't flash back to that girl popping and locking in the front seat in that car commercial? didn't that kinda freak you out?

:D The Dropkick Murphy's just played Osaka 2 weeks ago! I couldn't get off work though. :(

Most attempts to get me listen to techno/dance turn out like my first (and last) attempt to turn my old girlfriend onto punk. "Stop. Stop! STOP!" I

:) True, true, all to true. (And if I did take a liking to Techno, my CD collection would probably spontaniously combust due to contradictions. It's already prettry close as it is. ;))
