Iranians hate America

I suspected they did when they overran our embasy and held our diplomatic staff hostage. I was almost positive when I saw massive demonstrations in the streets of Tehran shouting "Death to America!". Now I'm convinced. After hearing about the anti-American museum they have converted the old embasy into, and after finding out that that chant is still popular, I beleive they really hate Americans. Am I wrong?

It took you this long to realise that?

And Americans hate Iranians. :) It's a happy world, with nationalities loving each others so... :(

Seeing as the USA helped to prop up the repressive regime of the Shah, it is hardly surprising that Iranians have little love for the US.

Seeing as Iran, like Iraq, is an artificially created nation, having previously been a British colony, it is of little surprise that they have little regard for the west as a whole.

Always helps to read a little history to understand what is happening today.

Still, education doesn't appear to be highly valued in some nations. Believing what you are told, and accepting that it is good for you, seems much more common.

Recognising that you are a slow learner is a good start. Improving your education is a wise step. Not posting until then may help.

BUMP.
In the (probably vain) hope that some US readers may ponder their history, and perhaps draw some conclusions from it.

Here's why.

Iran elected a democracatic government, but US didn't like it. They overthrew it and planted the Shah to serve their purposes, but then then he was removed and hence we have an anti-US government in Iran.

...

You wonder why the US has no respect?

In 1951, the National Front movement, headed by Premier Mussadegh , a militant nationalist, forced the parliament to nationalize the oil industry and form the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). Although a British blockade led to the virtual collapse of the oil industry and serious internal economic troubles, Mussadegh continued his nationalization policy. Openly opposed by the shah, Mussadegh was ousted in 1952 but quickly regained power. The shah fled Iran but returned when monarchist elements forced Mussadegh from office in Aug., 1953; covert U.S. activity was largely responsible for Mussadegh's ousting.

Actually, some guy wrote a book about Iran on this very matter.... Iran was the only muslim country where mass candle-light vigils happened the day after 9/11. The people are far more pro-American then the government is....

Actualy, all the anti-americanism is from the government. You just think that it is the Iranian people because the government forces them to.

Yes, Muslims hate the US so much that Muslim immigration to the US grew by huge ammounts between 1970 and 2000. (http://www.sullivan-county.com/x/mus_im.htm)

Not only Iranians.. Most muslim nations hate America, nearly solely on the fact that they support Isreal. Because Isreal is in control of Jerusalem, "One" of their most 'holy cities'.

Speaking of reading history, perhaps you can tell me when the British took over Iran as a colony?

Not a colony, a Protectorate, and it was as soon as the Ottoman Empire fell after the First World War.

Thats what they did to Iraq. The Ottoman Empire didn't control Persia (now Iran) at any time, really, much less 1914.

Lol, I knew there was something wrong eith your question, I just couldn't point it out.
Shouldn't be posting at 3am, lol.

Yea, I was thinking Iraq. In that case, Iran was never a colony or protectorate of England, or at least not durring any time period I care about.

Oh, and it was 1919, not 1914.
