Former sports minister Tony Banks has delivered a parting shot to his constituents by branding their problems "tedious in the extreme".

Mr Banks said he realised it was time to leave Westminster when he started asking himself "Why am I doing this?".

Hehehe...no non-executive directorships for this guy. 21 years in politics and he's broke as f--- and quite simply no longer bothered.

"You are working your nuts off and you are getting abused by journalists. I have got a very thin skin on these things. "-Tony Banks

He once described Tory leader William Hague as a "foetus" and upset Anglo-Canadian relations by calling the Canadians "dickheads" over seal culling.

I like this guy. We need more politicians like this here in AMerica. :)

Would make for much more interesting press conferences.

"Mr. Bush. What do you think of the military's continued inability to neutralize insurgent forces in Iraq?"

"I think you should go fu*k yourself. Next question, please."

Dick Cheney, anyone?

It impressed me. But I think we can do better than Dick Cheney.

George Carlin for Secretary of State! :D

Now that, I didn't know.

I did know however that he oversaw the beginning of the farce that is the National Stadium. But then again, I'm not sure you can blame him for that - it's more the fault of the system of which he was a part - this is, after all, the Government that gave us the Millenium Dome.

That wouldn't be so bad. Seeing old man in suits getting into brawls on C-SPAN would make my day.

Talked a good fight but when it came to the crunch he always toed the party line. Not as independant as he liked to see himself. Still he was entertaining and a nice change from the blandness of most politicians.
