I am a supporter of a British Republic where we can elect a head of state- but so long as the bulk of the country are happy with a monarchy I am not too fussy.

I can't say I've spent much time thinking about it, but the tourists do seem to like her.

I was thinking whether the money we make from tourism would stay in the economy if we didn't have to pay taxes to her. I doubt not paying taxes would be anywhere near as high as the money we make from tourism, so on that and that alone I guess the royal family are OK. I don't believe in an unelected figure though.

Likewise. Of course I am an in a dubious position writing about the British monarchy given that I live in Belfast, but my rationale on the Irish divide is that I am happy with being a part of the UK until the democratic majority says otherwise. Therefore, I agree with the above statement about the Queen.
What do people think of her *personally*? Well, of course, not many of us will know her personally, I'm sure, but you know what I mean. I think she's alright; a bit dull, but seemingly harmless.

I'd rather have a royal family, than have a republic. Mostly because i don't want politions faces on my money.
Petty but ture.

What about "It's not ideal, but no one's come up with a decent alternative, so I'd rather stick with what we've got for the time being"?

When she was younger, like the in the 50s, I might have done her. But now - I don't think so.
That's my thoughts on the queen.
That's the 1950s. not her in her 50s

the queen is cool,
just think we get so much money thanks to tourism, the queen herself seems to be alright and as they dont really do anything we dont really need to get rid of them. just like my moto says, "if it aint broke dont fix it."
the monarchy hasnt done anything drastic really and whats wrong with keeping with tradition, remember we got rid of our monarchy once before, they came back. we should keep them.
plus i want to see will as king! i might attempt to keep my money for longer if it has pictures of him on it ;)

well she has no real power anyway, what's the problem...she does earn a lot of money for us in the way of tourism

I don't. Yet some of my taxes go to support her. Which in my opinion is screwed up. Also you haven't proved that tourist come simply because they think they might meet the Queen, rather then to visit tourist attractions and historic sites which exist independent of the Monarchy.

I recently got Firefox. Internet Explorer was working fine. I just felt Firefox was better.
Actually I have to agree with that phrase on this topic, it ain't broke and I don't think it should be fixed. I think it should be abandoned.

Legitimacy through Prescription isn't a valid arguement in my eyes.
remember we got rid of our monarchy once before, they came back. we should keep them.
What??
So does the bad smell in the Uni toilets. But I don't see that as a valid reason to keep it

Bloated, lazy, inbred German parasite, sucking the life-blood of the people.
I don't have much argument with the actual old woman, just the disproportionately huge amount of wealth she owns, while some elderly women like her freeze to death because they can't afford to keep their houses heated, and that for which she stands. I despise the idea of being one of 'Her Majesty's subjects' and it being 'Her Majesty's Government'. I could have sworn it was supposed to be a democracy over here.

Out of interest. How much money has the existence of the monarchy given you?

Must the same here - though it's worth noting that she only costs us about £3 each per year.
Blunkett's bloody ID cards are expected to cost nearly 25 times that, and that's just the up front cost. How much it'll draw in subsidies is as yet undisclosed.
With luck we'll get a LibDem government next time and we'll see the end of a lot of this nonsense. Of course, we'll get a whole load of new twaddle, but it'll be a change, eh?
