For Republican supporters: Would you like McCain to be your candidate in '08?

I've noticed that many liberals and moderate Americans like John McCain, despite him being a Republican.

Would the actual Republican supporters actually like him to be the Republican presidential candidate in the 2008 elections? Or would you prefer someone further right-wing?

He's certainly not the worst Republican, and for the most part, is on the same page as Bush is in terms of foreign policy, and has better ideas for domestic policy. So yeah, I'd nominate him. But if Rudy Giuliani runs, he's got my vote.

Would I prefer someone more right-wing? Depends. It's really not about conservative or liberal, right or left wing, it's about the values that most Americans have and intend to pass down. Would I vote for McCain? Yes. Over any democrat, because democrats don't have the same values as I do. Honestly I think McCain would make an excellent president.

Would Mr Mc Cain really want to run for it? After the damage done by Karl Rove towards his private life? That is the question.

Yeah, I've heard about Rove's claim that he had illegitimate babies with Viet girls, but they were neither widespread, nor did they "ruin" his life. Besides, McCain has said he might run in 08.

With Guiliani and McCain as the two main names being kicked around, looks like the next US President will be a good old moderate.

Which I think we need. A best of both worlds moderate.

Not so fast, my dreamy little friend. Bush will probably endorse a candidate of his own, whomever that may be. And that will be significant, as he has acsess to the nation's largest political fundraising network.

Im not a Republican but McCain seems pretty good, at least hes much better than some other choices, such as Guilianni (sucks) Arnold Schwartzenager (sucks, cant run, and are you kidding me?) And Jeb Bush (Dont even go there!)

What is this about values?? What about voting for the guy who is best on the econemy? Best for the country, not the guy who will do his best to ban a womans right to choose.

I never said what specific values, bud.

And, I agree with you, women should have the right to choose. BUt I've said this over and over. They should make that choice before they have unprotected sex. There's so many contraceptives out there, it's easy NOT to have a kid. Not only that, it's murder, plain and simple. Also, I believe that in the next few years, you'll see the economy grow by leaps and bounds. If the jobs continue to increase as they have been doing, the national defecit will be cut in half.

McCain isn't as liberal as some people make him out to be. Looking at his senate record he's actually pretty conservative.

The only good Republicans that are still alive are (in my opinion) Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo (sp?).

McCain will never get the vote. The problem is that he doesn't follow party agendas. He does what he feels is right, and therefore, will never get the ticket to run for election. There are too many corporations pulling republican strings. They will never want McCain since they can never really control him.

Guiliani is a moron. I heard him speak. He's stupid as a rock and doesn't think on his own. No democrat will ever want Guiliani as president. He's just like Bush. McCain, on the other hand, has integrity, and I don't mind voting for him. And yea, I'm a liberal democrat.

Most republicans that I know like McCain. A lot of democrats will back him, as well. He has a great balance...more moderate on social ideas and economic ideals, but still conservative on foreign policy. I will not accept anyone who's a liberal on foreign policy, especially the war on terror, the war in Iraq. We need someone who will carry a big stick. Anyway, McCain is a great compromise between the left and right wings.

When will you learn that violence doesn't solve anything. Terrorism is now at a 21 year high, and it doesn't look like it's going down anytime soon. And also, you talk big, but I don't see you in Iraq going to war. War isn't some simple thing where you drink tea and munch on cookies. Go ahead and scream about how we need to be "tougher" on terrorism while you sit at home playing a video game.

When will you learn that violence doesn't solve anything. I never said violence doesn't solve anything. I said we need someone who can take action against violence. Terrorism is now at a 21 year high, and it doesn't look like it's going down anytime soon.Which is EXACTLY why we need to be tougher on terrorism. And also, you talk big, but I don't see you in Iraq going to war. Neither do I, seeing as how I'm onlt 16. Believe me, if I could go, I would go. War isn't some simple thing where you drink tea and munch on cookies. Thanks, Captain Obvious. Go ahead and scream about how we need to be "tougher" on terrorism while you sit at home playing a video game.Do you seriously expect us to sit back and let terrorists rape us in the ear? No. We have got to have someone willing to stand up to terrorists, someone willing to defend our country.

Bold added by me. No, violence doesn't solve anything. Yes, peace would be good. But it's not like ultimate peace will happen anytime soon. It's a necesary evil.

You have three (3) options:
A) Hold your breath, count to a thousand.
B) Go play in some traffic

HAHAHA, and you say that I must be 16. I'm in college with a degree in biology and computer science. So . . . what have you done with your life? Yea, that's right, sit behind your computer like a scared little boy. You talk big, but that's all you can do . . . talk. TERRORISM!! Hey everyone, where's Haloman? Oh, he's hiding behind that rock. It's ok, it's not like he can do anything anyway.

haloman: We have to fight the war on terrorism and Iraq.
someone: Why don't you join the war in Iraq then?
haloman: . . . WE HAVE TO FIGHT THE WAR ON TERRORISM AND IRAQ.
someone: moron.

Do you know that the Iraqis think that we Americans are the terrorist? Do you realize that most arabs think we're terrorist? Killing people isn't going to solve anything. If I kill your dad because he was a terrorist, you think you're gonna sit there and think "oh, my dad was a terrorist, so he deserved it." HELL NO. You'll get out there and start blowing things up. If you want peace on Earth, you need to compromise and be understanding . . . not running around waving your damn guns in the air.

TERRORISM, it's at a 21 year high, and it's increasing at a phenomenal rate. During the past 2 years, it shot through the roof . . . you want to take a guess at why?
