This from an armchair pundit on an internet forum. Nice.

Personally, I'm tempted to go. I could get some sight-seeing in while I'm there.

Don't you people have lives? I mean, I didn't hear of any canadian rallies against say, Kim Jong Il's treatment of his citizens.
Well, I can't recall the last time Kim Jong Il visited Paul Martin, either. But by all means, protesting a man who's visiting the country on the day he does so, and whose leadership has a profound impact on Canada is exactly the same as protesting against a man who's sitting on the other side of the world, does not effect Canada in any particular way, and who is in no meaningful way affected by relations with Canada.

That having been said, why protest against Bush. He's president so you need to deal with him (And do so politely for best results) one way or the other.

Edit: Is he visiting that day? Christ, I know he's coming to Ottawa, but I'm not sure the date. I just assume that this is the day... protests should have appropriate timing, you know.

Yeah you're right. I attend anti-war marches, but it's obvious from the placards that most in attendance are way to the left of me.

Don't you people have lives? I mean, I didn't hear of any canadian rallies against say, Kim Jong Il's treatment of his citizens.
I'm sure they will when the North Korean dictator actually visits Canada.

A socialist movement based on capitalism.

So, how many people can afford to attend these socialist events?
Although many socialists attend anti-war demonstrations, they're not socialist by definition, nor do they espouse any particularly socialist values. Anti-war sentiment reaches across the political spectrum.

Come on what the heck is the point of such a rally. Do you think that Bush or the United States gives a stuff about what a pack of University Students think?

What a waste of bloody time
Although anti-war protests generally do not have much effect, it is necessary that we register our disapproval. Silence is taken as consent by governments.

And the majority of American celebrities supported Kerry, hence Bush won. And the majority of Europeans supported Kerry, hence Bush won.... but nevermind: it was all Canada. Don't say that too loud or it'll go to Canada's head and people will think they can really make a difference.
Correlation is not causation. I imagine he'd have won one way or the other.

1. martin is a fiscal conservative and hardly liberal to start with.
2. he doesn't smoke pot. i'm sure that if he did, it would be legal already. cretien said that he might try if it became legal, but that's as far as a prime minister has said with regards to smoking pot. apparantly greek's leader offered him some when he was on some conference...
3. i thought martin was married. to a woman.

First off, nice one Florida ;)

Secondly, what the fuck does our president have to do with Canada? I don't like your damn mounties. Im gonna hold a protest against them! Come one come all!

Thirdly I am not surprised that Canada would support a weak leader. Not surprised France would either ;) . Throughout out the last century or so France has been wimpy, and ended up causing wars. WW2 was France and Britain's fault. Hmm well sorry for gettin off subject.

And lastly, in the great words of Peter Griffin "Canada sucks".

What does the president have to do with Canada? Frankly: a lot. Shared border, extensive trade (softwood lumber, beef, prescription drugs being large issues), joint control of NORAD, potentially a joint missile defence program. How does the president not affect Canada? This being said, I want nothing to do with any protest against President Bush.

And yes, Florida does make nice comments. What to do in response to "Whiny" Canadians? Whine, apparently.
