I don't know, to be honest. Everyone has biases, and to suggest that some media are unbiased is naive. The trick is for the viewer to sift for information. CNN, btw, comes the closest, but they must have some left-leaning biases, or else Fox News wouldn't be the phenominal success that it is today.

I agree. The major networks tend to rely on advertising revenue and ratings to stay alive and, well, that means if they show news that Proctor & Gamble doesn't like, P&G pulls its ads and that's that. The end result? Sensationalist news that attempts to be more shocking and entertaining in order to keep people from flipping the channel over to "My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss" or "Look at My New Boobies".
PBS and NPR are publicly funded and, thus, they tend to separate news from opinion and keep the analysts in check.
I listen to BBC world service news hour and NPR, watch CNN, and read the NY times. BBC seems least biased, followed fairly closely by CNN. NPR has a bit of a liberal bias, and NY Times seems a little liberal too. Just my opinion.

True. Modern media can't afford to be as biased as some state media is today.

Not in their news reporting. Yes, in their opinions, they tend to have a liberal bias ... but NPR is very good at making sure their opinion is just that ... opinion.

You have GOT to be kidding. The NYT's bias is smeared all over the front page "hard news" every day. Forty-seven stories about Abu Ghraib on the front page; three times as many as ANY other major newspaper! Two more words: Jason Blair.
FoxNews is the most objective news source for real, objective journalism. Left-wingers just don't see that, because they are so used to sources that let their liberal bias infiltrate the hard news.

Abu Garaib was a major incident. It left a serious black mark on America's image in muslim countries. A major scandal like that is very newsworthy. Fox is just a cheerleader for the GOP.

The NYT is not just biased, it is also inaccurate. Their journalists are lazy and don't bother to fact check properly.

If it was such a newsworthy story, why did other major newspapers, like the LA Times and Washington Post, run only one-third the number of stories on their front pages? I suppose they are just "cheerleaders for the GOP" too?
The NYT was trying to influence the election against Bush, plain and simple. And they have a history and reputation for making things up. Ditto CBS News.

I agree. FOX News is very unbiased. First, because it says it's fair and balanced, and FOX News is always right. Secondly, because they were the only ones with the balls to publish the following, absolutely 100% correct and non-faked Kerry quotes:
'Didn't my nails and cuticles look great? What a good debate!'
'It's about the Supreme Court. Women should like me! I do manicures'
Concerning Bush: "I'm metrosexual - he's a cowboy."

So all newspapers should be identical? They should all dedicate the same number of pages to each story? Abu Garaib stained the image of the USA at a time when that image was already deteriorating. It torpedoed our ability to diplomatically get anything done in the muslim world at a time when we are trying to get them to clean up their act. It was a major recruiting tool for terrorists and anti-americanism. If other papers didn't treat it as a major story perhaps it's their failure. As for trying to influence the election agaisnt bush, the editorial page did so, but the news stories reported the facts. Unfortunately the facts were a strong indictment of Bush foreign policy. More unfortunately, many Americans tended to overlook the facts in casting their vote.

Well, that IS the topic, isn't it? I realize all news sources have some bias, and I've seen Citizen Kane about 50 times, it's one of my favorite movies. Why is it that you assume I am somehow uneducated, just becasue I don't agree with your opinion? My opinion is that FoxNews is the least biased when it comes to their hard news reporting.

Schweet ... I'll get in on that one, too. Alas, though, I have not the funds.
I do, however, have the internet! I suppose one could start up such a thing as that via internet, but one would have to have sources for the video and feeds ... develop a reputation over time and get backing ... maybe end up on basic cable someday.

Well, there you have it. I am uneducated simply because I don't agree with your opinions. This is the arrogance and condescension of the left that I talk about on this forum. They are going to have to get rid of this hatred if they ever want to win another election. You don't win someone's vote by insulting them.

I tend to agree. I watch Fox News almost exclusively because they at least make a gesture in the direction of what they call "fair and balanced." This is a pleasant alternative to the liberal bias of most mass media, liberal protestations to the contrary.
Given the heavy preponderance of both liberals and far-leftists ( there is a difference ) on this Forum, I am no longer surprised at allegations of incompetence, lack of education, or what have you towards those of us who tend to sometimes disagree with their pre-programmed, pre-digested regurgitation of what they have apparently been taught in school.
