Since it seems Religion is becoming quite the hot topic of debate I thought I'd like to see what everyone thinks about it...

So people know where I'm coming from on this...here is a few facts that you should know about me relating to this subject...

I am a Roman Catholic Christian...
I have friends who believe in numerous faiths...
I also have friends who are gay or bi-sexual...
My girlfriend is a Pagan...

So have at 'er people...

I hope to keep this as a constructive debate and hope no one really gets TOO hurt or insulted by what's said...

People are entitled to be atheists.
People are entitled to be theists.
People are entitled to argue over these points.
Anyway you slice it, the arguments are a just a merry-go-round of fuming insults and baseless attacks.
It's better to make fun of everybody.

And just to include philosophy in this... What is a being?

What, specifically, would you like to know?

I think it's more of a randomly debate anything concerning the aforementioned topics in a civilized manner.

I dunno... The whole what is a being question kinda died...

Well to open up an argument then...

Should all religions delcaire a "clean slate" and start over with relations between one another...

Would this be a good idea or a bad one?

Bad, since this:
A)Can't be done anyway.
and..
B)Would leave us with nothing to discuss.

Everytime this discussions goes around, there is one who say "I am a catholic, but have gay friends, so, you are wrong", the thing is not the clever people like you that know to ignore things that a lot of priests say that are the subject of these threads. Ok, you are a cool guy, congrats, 97% of your religious fellows vote for burning gay people in public parks. (ok, I made that number up, I don´t have the slightest idea of how many religious people are cool like this guy who started this thread or how many are mindless fundies, but just to illustrate that even if religion does not make you automatically a brainless fundie, it does affect a lot of people in negative ways... in positive ways, it´s true, but, no point in starting a thread that say "hey, good job loving your brothers", because it´s not something that need to be changed, now, a thread "stop hating people" is valid, IMO)

Wow. Diddo here, only it's an ex-girlfriend. I wish your relationship luck - that kind of partnership can be very difficult at times.

This would require that many religions be reformatted, not just their relations with each other. If all Christians became impartial to Buddhists, they would no longer be Christians, since they are by defintion racist bigots (Note: This is if they were in exact occurdence with their doctrines, I know there are different degrees of religious practice and what you chose to follow). Same with Islamics and Jews. Some religions are based on being the opposite of another, like LaVeyan Satanism (Inverted Christianity) is to Christianity, so if their relations became miraculousy perfect, the religion in itself would cease to exist.

I follow no beliefs but my own. I have no holy book, only the morals in my spirit.

I used to be a christian, but I had way too much faith for that :p
