Out with the old and bring it right back in

Okay, Halo2 came out a few weeks ago. We all said "Oh!" and "Neat!" and went "Yippie!" when it came out. I personally waited six hours in line so as to be the first to buy it at exactly midnight on November 9, 2004 (I was on the front page of the local paper because of it). I then proceeded to beat it the same day. I then played it over and over again, inviting friends over for multiplayer and exploring different little easter eggs during the campaign. Much joy resulted. So, of course, Halo: Combat Evolved went right into the trashcan. Or did it......?

Today, Monday November 22, 2004, after several hours of Halo2 Multiplayer where I decimated my opposition (Usually in the Tank, for I am God in the Tank) I pulled out my copy of Halo: Combat Evolved and plugged it right into the X-Box. I then proceeded to tear up that famous ringworld all over again. You want to know someting? That game still kicks some serious ass.

Seriously, it rocks. The graphics are still crisp and clear, the A.I. is still clever, the physics for the Worthog are still the worst I've ever seen in a video game (and I wouldn't have it any other way), and the Grunts still scream as well as they ever did. Halo2 might be newer, but I feel you can never top a classic.

Anybody else taken the time to dip into the past?

I said a classic, not a fossil. ;)

Besides, I've gotten my recent Marathon fix from Red Vs. Blue

Half-life 2 is better then any version of Halo.

You can not compare a computer game to a console game. It just doen't work out right. Halo 2 has a better plot then Half-life 2 though.

Marathon 2 has the far superior storyline :D

You just can't beat Durandal. The guy kicks so much ass it's funny.

Please do not say anything about Halo 2 is better than HL2.

First of all, one was made by Microsoft. Does Microsoft care about a game being good or a game selling? A game selling!

Half Life 2 was made by Valve. Does Valve care about making good games or selling a lot? Making good games!

How long was H2 in production? 2 years? I am not sure exactly, but it was a fraction of the...

5 years HL2 was in production! Why was HL2 in production so long? Because Valve made a new engine specifically for it!

Let us further compare.

Halo was released for the computer. But what was the most played Multiplayer game on the PC? Counter-Strike! Counter-Strike was a mod for Half-Life! How old is Counter-Strike? It has been out for 4 years and was in beta for a while too. (I do not know because I have not been into it that long, but it has been a while) And Half-Life is still selling? Is it selling because of stellar graphics? NO! The graphics suck! It is selling because it is a great game! Halo is still selling because people think it is so cool when there is nothing really special about it. I have played it, I thought it sucked.

To compare the HL series to the Halo series is like comparing a something made for the gamers to something made for a profit.

1: Technically, Halo was made by Bungie and then bought up by Microsoft. Does Bungie make games to be fun or for profit?

2: Half-life was also made for the Playstation. It sucked. People are still not playing it.

3: People still play Halo. It may not have been around as long but it is still the most popular console multiplayer.l

4: Halo does not have that stellar of grafics. Why would people play it then? It must be fun or something...

5: I have played both games. Half-Life 2 is buggy and many people have problems running it. I have no problem running Halo 2 with out a glitch.

6: Just because Microsoft made it does not mean it sucks. That would be a biased opinion.

7: Halo has a great multiplayer system built into it. I don't have to buy another game to have that experience.

Marathon 2 was an awesome game. Better than the first and way better than the last one. That was why I bought Halo 1 in the first place; Bungie made both of them.

Good god! People who have played Marathon!

Yes, they were some of the best games ever. I still play them. I did a 4 hour multiplayer of it with my friends. They said it was "rubbish" but they bloody enjoyed it.

P.S. check out my flag :-)
