Wanna tell me personal feelings on it? I really don't know whether I should get the DS or wait for the PSP...or buy one and save up for another in a year or two...

I'd recommend waiting for a few months in any case for the hype to blow over.

Get the DS. I saw it and it looks brilliant. the PSP won't have as many games, and the DS will have a free messaging service.

The PSP has more announced games than the DS, as well as more games with actual meaning...I mean...I can only handle so many cartoonish-anime games such as Feel the Magic, etc.

I'll wait until DS starts getting game reviews before considering buying one. I prefer home consoles to portables though.

Sure there are SOME cartoony games for nintendo. But not all of them are. Stop being closed minded, come on every one loves mario!

omg, the cube was the most childish system ever, the nes and snes had some nice games, but gamecube was the kiddy system when compared to the ps2 and xbox

wow, why dont you buy an ngage? did you buy a neogeo pocket? if not, why not?

your reasoning is ludicrous. its a matter of choice really though

i highly doubt anyone can give an objective comparison of the psp and ds

If the kiddy system means good games ( mario, metroid, zelda) Ill take it over any ps2 with a crappy hardware or a shooter thats just better on pc. Mario>halo
Metroid>gta Miyamoto>jesus

wow excellent IRRELEVANT comparisons to prove your point, let me take that straw man down for ya

mario = action adventure
halo = action shooter

metroid = first person shooter
gta = action shooter, a bit rpg

I have. But you dont need to hear it, since I can resume it in 4 lines

Psp: a lot of wat you want, but lacks signature games, and the hardware will crap out on you ( just like the ps2)
DS: the essentials, plus few cool features and awesome signature games. Wont play any movies, but wont crap out after a year( just like the gc), and has good battery life.

not my point. reverse them if you want, will make more sense, I was just trying to match up scores, since
mario<metroid
halo<gta
therefore, I tried not to match metroid with halo, since halo would end up totally humiliated, nor did I try to match mario with gta, since mario>gta is arguable

(I dont care about the comparisons being irrelevant, the point is, games from different genres are comaprable just because some are better than others, period)

Good ANNOUNCED DS games:
(just based on popularity/score)
Advance Wars DS
Egg Monster Heroes
FF 3
Metroid Prime
Sonic DS
Viewtiful Joe
Warioware
Super Mario 64 DS
Super Mario Bros DS

Good ANNOUNCED PSP games:
Movie: FF7 Advent Children
Metal Gear Acid
Crisis Core - FF7
Death Jr.
Devil May Cry
NFS: Underground Rivals
Vampire Chronicle
Viewtiful Joe (PSP version)

Make your pick based on the above. I would pick the less kiddy games. I mean, seriously...I'm beyond Mario and cartoonish games.

I say you should subscribe to EGM or PSM or something. They really help with choosing stuff like this.

I picked up my DS last sunday, and to say the least, its amazing. But choice is up to you. If you arent really sure, i guess what i'd do is take it for a spin(find a friend that has one and test it out). And about the whole kiddy thing :-\

OK, most anime-esque games ain't that good, but don't be dissin' Gundam SEED DS!

That game is gonna rock! (thankfully, unlike all the previous Gundam games) Also, Viewtiful Joe DS is sorta cartonnish, but is also awesome

Forget video games.
Go for a candy apple red Fender American Percision (wipes drool from chin).

Gundam? That anime with the giant robots turning into weird things and with gay pilots?

No, I'll take my DBZ and my DBGT and even my FLCL and my Bebop. Hell, gimmie Love Hina too....they're not so bad. Even IF I haven't seen any of em in...months.

[Big list of games]
You missed Ridge Racer (on both I think) and Crystal Chronicles DS, but other than that, nice list. :)

From what I've seen, both have fantastic graphics, although I'd say the PSP just takes the edge in that department. The PSP has the Sony brand name, a nice collection of games, and the ability to watch movies on it. However, it does have a rather poor battery life (something like 4-6 hours max), and they've fallen for the GBA trap in design (I mean, a massive screen like that, with no cover, is gonna get scratched to hell and back).
The DS, on the other hand, has innovations by the handful (16 player wireless gaming, duel screen, touch screen), plus the usual Nintendo quirkiness that I enjoy so much. Oh, and the ability to play all my old GBA games, with a backlight! (I never got a GBA SP, I couldn't justify the cost).

As you may have guessed, I've ordered a DS on import. But even though I'm a blatent Nintendo fanboy, that's not to say I hate the PSP. Graphically it looks stunning, and it should have a pretty good selection of games for it, if those are the games you like. Personally, I'm more of a quirky, cartoony game fan. I don't see why certain people will only consider a game if it has guns and violence and a realistic setting. And anyway, I have the PC for those kind of games. ;)

I am, and I agree that the games that I listed earlier are totally awesome games that I would consider. But placing them aside the PSP games, I edge toward the PSP.
