I have recently found out horrible news. The universe is not as it seems.
It turns out this universe is not a universe but a 'Cyber-Universe'. This universe was created by several scientists working on hyper-advanced supercomputers. They fast forwarded through the more boring parts of universal history and slowed down around this time. Then they added a bunch of cool do-hickeys.
Thanks to the magic of Capitalizm they are going to release the universe over the internet for a small fee. They do not know that we are independent creatures however. They believe we are simply advanced A.I.
This 'Power Culture', as I like to call it, which made this universe is thousands upon thousands of years ahead of us so they have spread across their universe. They have trillions upon trillions of residents, most with access to the internet. Since there are trillions upon trillions of suns in this universe they may not find us. If we're lucky.
Here are some consequences to the market release:
Thanks to Cut & Paste users can cut anything from an atomic nucleus to a galaxy and simply paste it somewhere else. (i.e.) You're reading a book at home. Suddenly you are floating in the vacuum of space; you are walking to the supermarket. Suddenly a blue whale appears above the shop and falls to the ground crushing it.
Thanks to the Delete button some punk could simply click on you and make you cease to exist.
With a microphone you could suddenly hear a voice in your head telling you to kill someone.
Someone could take control of your body commanding you to 'channel' the spirit of some un-earthly being.
Someone could read your mind.
The release of the program is slated, in our time, for November 29th. So if we just think and talk about the program and what it could do constantly one of the scientists might stumble across us and find out that we know, and hopefully stop the release. So the more people that think about it the better chance we have of a scientist finding out, and saving ourselves.
