Purging of the Poisons!

As of this moment, right now, I have made up my mind to stop poisoning my body with booze and smokes. I figured I'd start this here and keep a running thread on how I feel and what I notice.

I'm coming from a 16 year pack a day cigarette habit and about 6 years of consuming 2 liters of whiskey per week. Which basically means, hey, more for the rest of ya'll. :)

Let's see how this goes! Will power ahoy!

do what you want, just don't come crying to me when you are confined to the living hell that is a modern nursing home in your golden years, and i am peacefully dead.

Yep. I tallied it up and I spend $4,300.00 per year just on poisoning myself.

Seems to me that money could be better spent. Even if I just put it away in bonds at a mere 2.25% or somesuch, it would become $150,000 in extra money when I'm 65.

So ... yeah ... I'm quitting. Now.

dr phil always recommends against going with will power
he says you have to substitute a new behavior for the old one
it could be true

good luck with it in any case and remember that it can take a few tries to really kick any habit.

Well, staying the course I'm on now, I most likely will not see 50. Personally, I'd like to see 50.

Oh, no worries, I'll die in debt up to my eyeballs ... it's the American way. Living fast and dying young would be an ok choice, but I have kids of my own now. They'd probably like me to hang around a while.

Cool.

Best of wishes to you in this endeavour. And if you don't succeed, just remember, there's always another endeavour.

And another... and another... and another....

Well ... it's been 4 whole hours so far with no ill effects.

I'd like a smoke, but I'm not going to have one. Technically, it's been 2 days on the booze since I haven't had a drink since Friday, and I'm not really craving one at this point.

Let's see how the morning goes without that first smoke.

IF you have trouble with the cigs move to nyc. They are $7.50 a pack here. Nobody can afford to smoke.

Well .... it's been a month. I've had 2 cigarettes and 1 beer. Not too shabby.

The cigarettes were a lot harder than the booze.
