Okay, I'm not generally one for threads that ask for advice or ask for others' opinions on my personality, but what the hell. It's a slow night and I've got little better to do.

I've got nearly 11,000 posts now, and had a number purged back in the days of the old server. In the days of the old server, you may recall, there was an f-bomb deleter--made "fuck" and any derivative of it look like f---. In order to truly express yourself, you had to fool the censor with bb code, an action that the mods tended to frown upon a touch. As you can see, that's no longer an issue, and as a result, many of us have become a bit freer with out f-bomb launchers.

I'd like to think that I only use them in extreme cases, although I'll admit to being less than objective in this matter. So what's the verdict? Am I too quick to go f-nuclear? Or do I have just the right amount of effing goodness?

To me swearing is fine as long as the person you are speaking to when you say it do not mind. Words differ, s*** and cheese are still meaningless caveman symbols, no matter what the implication.

I think with 10,000+ posts, you are allowed to say fuck.

I swear on a couple of boards I am a regular on, because the other people understand that its not said with any huge malice.

Generally I'd say in any sort of public discourse, this included, "fuck" should only be used when quoting something.

There really is no other reason to use it, in my opinion.

In everyday speech the case is completely different.

I very rarely curse in person, but I curse much more when I'm talking to my friends online. I also curse some, but not much, in some forums.

And I don't think you swear too much! I wonder if you could get like a database of all your posts and make a count of how many times you've sworn...see how much it increased at the move.

Funny but I've found it preferable not to use too much profanity. When you really need to express yourself, using profanity, when it is uncommon to you, makes people pay attention, while if you use it often, you wind up being unable to use for emphasis, people expect of you as part of your normal discourse - thus you become incapable of conveying to people how truely fucked up those really fucked up things are.

If I thought your cursing was stupid and pointeless, I'd report it as excessive, but in all honesty, your curses are usually in valid places and justified. So, keep up the good cursing! :p

You seem to use it in moderation, which is the way to go, IMO.

You use it mostly in moderation, and I've never seen you burst into flames like I once did :p
