They do this in russia and china too.
There are several journalists being held in contempt over when Robert Novak outed an undercover CIA agent.
Interestingly, Mr. Novak is under no legal threat.

Her name was Valerie Plame and he ruined her career.
Novak revealed his source so he wouldn't go to jail.
