eBay has canceled bids for a half of a 10-year-old grilled cheese sandwich that its owner said bore the image of the Virgin Mary.
Diana Duyser, of Hollywood, put the sandwich up for sale last week, drawing bids as high as $22,000 before eBay pulled the item Sunday night. The page was viewed almost 100,000 times before being taken down.

i read that eBay cancelled it because they believed it was a joke item, and they don't allow joke items to be put up for bid. personally i think that is a pile of crap; people honestly believe that Mary appeared in a window stain, for crying out loud, so why should a cheese sandwich be any different? these are crazy people, and they really believe that the image of the mother of their murdered half-diety leader is showing up in random places all over the world. they call it a "miracle" when it is a window stain, so why are we laughing at this "miraculous" sandwich? is it that window mold is totally believable, but bread and cheese are not?

Apparently now there's a couple of other things up on Ebay: a pork chop said to resemble Israeli leader Ariel Sharon, a falafel in the image of Yasser Arafat and a George W. Bush tortilla.

....Hmm. More stereotyping Christians! Why am I not surprised? Do you people actually not understand that when you stereotype Christians, you are no better than the so-called "Christians" who stereotype you?

But is it a stereotype, or a long-term observation? Surely even as a Christian yourself (I am guessing), you can see that most people with such beliefs don't respect the rights of others to their beliefs? It maybe is a generalisation, but that generalisation is based on how many of these people behave to those that don't share their ideals.

By the way, I've seen air guitars on sale on eBay. If the Virgin sandwich was removed because it was considered a joke, why not these?! I mean, you can't really use an air guitar, can you? :p

Hot news!

The sacred sandwich has unleashed a cottage industry of Virgin Mary grilled cheese stuff.

You can buy a T-shirt that says "I ate the Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese" on the front, with the words, "It was sacrilicious" on the back. Or another one that says, "If you grill it, she will come."

There are Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese coffee mugs, Christmas ornaments, jewelry, trading cards and even thongs.

You can also get a domain name using the words "virgin mary grilled cheese" ...

You're either arrogent in believing there's only your religion, or you've got a guilty conciense.

Fess up-how much did you bid? :D

I'm not arrogant in believing only my religion exsists, because I know of other religions such as Islam, Hinduism, and Buddism. I just believe my religion is true and that the other religions aren't, just like a Muslim person believes his/her religion is true and that mine isn't. And I most certainly do not have a guilty conscience about stereotyping other religions, or people. Not all Muslims, for instance, are terrorists. Most are peaceful, in fact. Not all Buddists light themselves on fire. And just because someone isn't of my religion doesn't make them a bad person. There are several good people that aren't necessarily Christian. I made the assumption that he was speaking of Christians especially because this thread involved a subject concerning Christianity, which is partially a reason why I looked at it.

...Besides, that's even worse, saying that all religious people are crazy enough to go to lengths to buy a ten year old sandwich for a good deal of money.

It's a stereotype based upon the majority of how "Christians" act. The truth is, a Christian is a loving giving person who would respect his or her fellow person and respect them though they don't believe the same. A Christian is one who shares the love of Christ. "Christians" that hate and disrespect others for their beliefs and don't love aren't Christians at all. In my opinion, that would be a hypocrite.

ok you are counting people of the belief jesus and are cristan, why the double check?

I mean why check for cristian and jesus ... would it not just be more efficent to check for just jesus or cristian ? because if you belive jesus is the son of god you also are a cristian ... weather practicing or not you follow under the umbrel

I just get overwhelmed

Used to be Christian … now agnostic

Managed to get a bible thrown at me yesterday :) (we get some nut jobs around here sometime … giddions guy threw it at me cause I was walking with a girl that was wearing pants) lol

I seem to attract religious nutjobs (specifically the fringe group) and it is tainting my objectivity which I prize more then almost any other feature

Time to get perspective :)
