I've already told my friends and family that 'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen is a tune I want played :)

Without any doubt whatsoever,
Take My Hand, by Toto. It's the end credits theme to the original Dune movie.

I'm thinking "Another One Bites the Dust", also by Queen, for me, maybe as the coffin's being lowered into the ground...

Who'll Stop the Rain ~ Creedence Clearwater Revival
Vera Lynn - We'll Meet Again
All Doctor Strangelove-esqe. ^^ "Mein Führer! I can walk!"
Can't decide... either
"Always look on the bright side of life" - Monty Python
"Herald's Lament" - written by Mercedies Lackey
"Mummer's Dance" - Loreena McKennitt

The obvious choice if I was ever cruicified for some reason! In fact, that's not my funeral song, but my tortured-to-death song.

Some Irish Punk Rock with very old whiskey for all, then some Bob Marley followed by my closest friends smoking the scrappings from my lungs.
Wow, dude. Look at the colors.
But then again I plan on living forever.

Well, since it will be a military funeral, I would like them to play some military marches. :)
I also want at least three bagpipers to play "Amazing Grace." No, I'm not "religious" at all, I just love the way the song sounds when played by bagpipes! :)

Hmmm....maybe Insomnia by Faithless, just for the line 'I can't get no sleep'.
If I'm being cremated, it would have to be Fire by The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown - "I am the god of hellfire, and I bring you.....fire"
Seriously, probably some Manics...This Is Yesterday, or Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky. And possibly the Secret Machines' 'You Are Chains'

I would have the Johnny Cash version myself, but the original is excellent also.
Possibly "In My Life" by the Beatles.
I would follow those up with "For the Love of Money" by the O'Jays to lighten the mood and fire up a soul train.

Kyuss, Welcome to Sky Valley...its in the middle of one 18 minute track, but they play them as seperate songs live. This part in particular.
"Don't try to take me away
Like I can't live without you
Today, makin' love tomorrow
Some way, swooping your so fragile
Died today, you disgraced the mortal
Fight me lately, tried to someone
We've been laughing since you've been gone
And I want to know, did you all enjoy the show?
It's so sad to see you go
And you know, you're my home
Alone, always on his own
Hangin' low today, I replace the highway
Love the only way, linking hands the wrong way
So unfair to see you go
It's so sad to see you go
I just thought I'd let you know
And you know, you're my home
Alone, always on his own...
Don't try to take me away, Like I can't live without you
Today
Makin love tommorow
So way
Swoopin' your so fragile
Died today
You disgrace the mortal
Find me lately
Tied to someone
We've been laughing
Since you been gone
And I want to know
Did you all enjoy the show
It's so sad to see you go
And you know
Hanging low today
I replace the highway
Love the only way
Linking hands the wrong way
So I bare to see you go
It's so sad to see you go
I just thought I'd let you know
And you know."

One of my favorite childhood songs! :D
The worms crawl in the worms crawl out
First you're sick and then you're worse
And then it's time to call the hearse
They take you out to the family plot,
And there you wither, decay, and rot.
They wrap you up in a bloody sheet,
And then they bury you six-feet deep.
They put you in
the cold, cold ground
with all your relatives
standing around.
All goes well for about a week
and then your coffin begins to leak.
Your stomach turns a slimy green
and puss pours out like whipping creme.
The worms crawl in
The worms crawl out
The worms they crawl
all about
The worms crawl in
The worms crawl out
They play pinochle
on your snout!

"Kite" by U2 (from All That You Can't Leave Behind)
or
"Besides You" by Queensryche (from Q2K)
...but then, "Space Oddity" by Bowie would be kinda cool, kind of like the "See ya later aligator" from the funeral in the first episode of Red Dwarf...
BTW: To the "Take My Hand" Dune choice - props!! I love that song.
StarWars Imperial March, whilst the cofin is being removed from the church
That's perhaps the most awesome idea I've heard.
Well, as my whole life is one big irony, I suppose it would only be appropriate to end it with the song "Stayin' Alive."

What about the song from Fame as well - somewhere in there is a line where Irene Cara (I think it was) belts out, "I'm gonna live forever..." I think that'd work best if you performed a rather public criminal event first. I'm not encouraging you to.. it would just fit better.
I am having the worst time trying to think of the tune I want. I mean, I know it, I can hear it, but it has no lyrics. It's a very 70's kind of thing. Some light guitar, lots of horns. It's got the flow of a casual walk down the street downtown - like you'd expect to hear it in the opening credits of a cop show. It's quite frustrating.

Hehe, not the theme song, but yes, very much in that vein. Without the cool Isaac Hayes voicework. Shaft came out in '71, I don't think the the tune I'm thinking of is quite that old. I've checked the Studio 54 soundtracks, it wasn't there, either. Wish I could remember which CD I've got it on, there's too many of them laying around here. I'll find it yet, it's been on my mind lately.

At first, I was thinking 'bout 'Allways look on the bright side of life' too but then everybody said that too and now I can't say it anymore!!
So what would I take instead??.........................Oh, oh, now i know it!
'The End' by The Doors. Perhaps my ashes can be sprinkled to the graveyard in Paris...next Morrison of course
Bananaphone. Nothing to do with a funeral, but it is a likely cause of death. So it could be argued that it is.
