I disagree with the law, and I disagree with the idea of changing it for Arnie's sake.

Someone who had Hitler as a hero? You've got GW Bush for 8 years (4 gone), and you want to elect a closet Nazi?

Yeah--that's about sums it up for me. I wouldn't vote for Arnie to be dogcatcher.

I don't really think it'd be a good idea to let a man who praised hitler take over america... say goodbye to the jews if you do... just a little harmless fun.

I like the Constitution as it is on this issue. I don't think it is too much to ask that our top government position be held by someone that was born and raised here.
As for Arnie...if a Republican is to be elected, I think we could do worse...depending on how "real" this Nazi issue is. I knew his dad was a member of the Nazi party...but I don't know anything about his views on the issue.

Change the constitution at your own risk. The founding fathers were not stupid men.
It's really best to have a man for whom English is his first language as President ... tho of course you've got Bush ...
BTW if you change the law to allow foreign-born people to become president, you do realise that you risk a Frenchman running for office ... :D

Wasn't it so that Eisenhower was president for some time? Or some other WWII figure? And wasn't that person English?
Besides, deep down nearly all Americans are European. Irish, English, Italian, Scottish, Russian, Dutch, Swedes... And hey, the Roosevelds where originally from the Netherlands.
Real Americans don't exist anymore. The few indians still alive are either kept isolated from civilization by 'preserves' (it's like an animal survival program, shees! On Sundays you can go take the kids into the wilds to see real Indians!) or fully integrated into European society AKA 'The American Dream'.
But simply put, the US is denying 'poluted' foreigners the opportunity to vote based on a forgotten reason. It must be the only western country left that will not let immigrants become full-fledged US citizens.

I don't think I would ever vote for Arnie unless the other guy was waaaay worse. At least he isn't acting anymore, though.

You don't have to have been born here to have been raised here. The law is silly.

No, they were idiots..
After Bush gets done skull-humping the country, I bet Arnie would look like a pacifist genius, and the Constitution would be amended to allow him to run for pres. Just watch!
depends on who hes running against.

I'd vote for him. People have a lot of unnecessary knee-jerk reactions to stuff without looking at it in broader context. All I have to do in order to persuade the fundies and soccer moms is add "think of the children!" or "do it for your children". BAM, suddenly they're forward-thinking people "doing the right thing". Arnold praised Hitler? Okay. In what context? If you havent noticed, the Governator isn't exactly the aryan dream, so I doubt he'd pull an auschwitz on people. I respect Hitler for what he *could achieve*, not so much for *what he chose to do*. Here's a wee bugger who took over a nation - not by force, but by convincing them to give it to him. He was a charismatic guy, who knew how to motivate people.
Arnie respects that? Fine by me. Who/what have we had leading our country in the last 20 years anyway? A redneck retard(publicly, at any rate) who only wants the rich to benefit, a communist party contributor (and his wife) paired with a couple known to support the banning of music and outright censorship, redneck Sr., who started a war to avoid being ejected from office for bad work (have any other presidents been voted out DURING wartime? I could be wrong), and ... an actor, who held it together for 8 years, even if he was napping half the time, and forgot the other half.
I doubt Arnold would be that bad.

I support his right to run, but I would never vote for a Republican.
If he were a Democrat, Populist, or Independent, I would consider it.
