Well everyone, I know this is always a hot topic of discussion amongst people these days, but I am trying to acquire some good information on the topic for a debate I am preparing for, and I was looking for people's opinions on the subject and perhaps to point me in the direction of some good information. Your help on this matter is greatly appreciated!

this would be a hard decision for me if stem cell lines could only be obtained through abortion

but seeing as how they can come from willing adult doners the decision is an easy one

there is no moral ground for the government to fund embrionic stem cell research when it can get the same bang for its buck without killing anyone

The US government should abolish all forms of research in that direction.

I'm undecided about embryonic stem cell research, but the government should definitely fund adult stem cell research.

... Why? You keep this attitude toward WMD research, too? (I hope?)

Yes. The US should abolish WMD research as well. Both are unethical and un christian.

The ethics might remain to be debated but since we have a Separation of church and state and a secular, the Christian viewpoint is hardly a reason for the government to do anything. I'm not saying its necessarily wrong, but further reasons are needed.

Um..what country do you live in? Christianity should have no role in this subject, whether it is wrong or right.

Anyways, I don't see how something that could potentially save countless lives in the future is pretty much treated the same as gay marriage and similar subjects. This is so much bigger than things like that, and fundamentalists beliefs stalling this research is a prime example of the hypocracy surrounding the whole separation of church and state ideal.

stem cell research could solve many mediacl problems such as alzeheimers and some types of cancer. There is no point in not using the stem cells from dead fetuses, they go to waste anyway.
