Oh, they cannot be serious
Can they? (http://www.adoptasniper.org)
Gotta get me one for home defense.
I thought my tax money was supposed to take care of that. Damn Bush tax cuts!

It's like 'adopt a dolphin'. Only with high powered long-range rifles

I'ld research the group before I did anything but assuming they're legit, it's little different than care packages from home or "Operation Dear Abby". Just more specific to a group.

For just 83 cents a day, I can adopt a sniper!
Its wonderful, you get a picture of them, all decked out in their new gear. Every couple of weeks you get a letter from them, and they tell you all the neat stuff they've seen, all the nice places they've been, and a list of wanted men they've capped from 800 meters.

They should send you a rifle if you donate lots of money.
Mommy, I want my .50 caliber rifle!!

Eh, it's much funner to be the sniper than to be the adopterer (if that's even a word).

Man if I was rich, I could clone a cat 5 times and then protect them with a squad of snipers. God, what a wonderful world.

Not just citizens, I'm sure. One would assume that foreigners would be able to adopt a sniper.... if they really wanted to at least.
Oh, and of course they need funding from the citizens. It's called taxes.

Well, to be fair, it also talks about police snipers too. So you have to wonder if this is just for the military, or if the local police have their hands out.
