Louisiana 15 year olds must now register with the Selective Service (the agency that collects names of all 18+ year old males for possible conscription) to get a Drivers License.

If they are really sincere about not planning a draft, why scare us like that? It's inane, they're just begging for conspiracy theories and more general unrest.

I really don't understand why they would pass a law like this, isn't the current system working out?

The same reason the age has gone up from 25 to 34?

I've always thought it was funny that boys had to register and sign away their lives before they can get a college loan.

Of course, I'll still think it's criminal if they start doing it to girls. I just think it's unfair all-around, but right now, it's only unfair to boys.

We have to register and sign our lives away before we can buy a beer. How's that for injustice? We can go and die for our country but we can't have a drink the night before.

Seriously. What maddens me even further is that the drinking age used to be 18, but was bumped in the 80s.

As for the draft, I don't want to come across as some conspiracy theorist who eats up the blog rumors and thinks the CIA had Kennedy killed (or did they? ;)), but I don't know what to believe anymore. I see all these little signs, here and there, leading to a draft, as Bush and the Pentagon insist there will never be one. I simply don't know what to believe.

Eh, I don't actually care, because I'm over 21, but it still seems very ridiculous to me.

Well by now you should realise that trusting anything your Government tells you contrary to the evidence is foolhardy. In fact, trusting them at all is foolhardy. :D

So we're misleading people about something incredibly important, while just plain fucking around with the people that are supposed to be looking into it?

DIdn't we attack some place recently for doing the same? ;)
