Check this out... In Washington State (USA) governer race:

"After a day of vote-counting with more suspenseful twists than an Alfred Hitchcock movie, Republican Dino Rossi held a 19-vote lead over Democrat Christine Gregoire on Tuesday night in the governor's race.

It was a good day for Gregoire otherwise, with a court victory for Democrats in King County and promising news from Grays Harbor County. The winner will be determined by the final few votes that remain uncounted, out of 2.8 million ballots cast. A statewide recount is looking more likely by the minute ... about 22,000 votes remain to be counted statewide."

I knew it was close, but DAMN!

Just the other day Rossi had a couple thousand vote lead (before then, Gregoire was ahead by a similar margin).

This is obviously grounds for a recount. We won't know for awhile.

I demand a recount!
But seriously, at least their getting this resolved now instead of two weeks down the road. Florida went for two weeks beyond today.

In close elections it could change the outcome, after the
official election night results are counted and reported, in
Ohios Presidential race, the number of provisional ballots,
I dont think will change the results since Kerry needs to get
at least 90 percent of those ballots and absentee in a
generally republican state.

I think absentee ballots should only be given to sick
persons who are still capable of voting, and oversees
persons that can prove they will be out of town on
election night.

They should be given out a reasonable time before
the official election day and returned and counted a
reasonable time before the official election day and
the results sealed this being the responsibility of
the secretarys of state. Even if we allow for early voting
they must be returned and counted before the official
election day.

One possible solution to provisional ballots when someone
registers they are given proof of thier registration and that
with thier Ids will prove they are registerd if not on the list
election day, some may say that may be open to fraud,
I think it would be minimal if it should occur, I dont know.
but what I do know that it is ridiculous that after election
returns are counted and reported we still have provisional
and abseentee ballots uncounted that is why
I am against provisional ballots.

In Florida provisional ballots changed I think not sure
the results of a gambling proposition on the ballot, I
think that is ridiculous.
